Game: Death Stranding 2

Once I passed the Plate Gate for the first time into Australia I skipped the ship & set out with what I had on me to explore the map for prepper stations. Extra blood bags, a pistol & a few grenades.

It has turned into one of the best open world exploration experiences I've ever played.

It suddenly feels like a survival game being so far away from a terminal & having to forage for resources. To have to be careful & manage my stamina or sneaking into bases for items.

And to see the landscapes for the first time unmarked by others (or me for that matter) makes for some epic views. Like being in Blade Runner movie.

It also kinda feels like playing Shadow of the Colossus on steroids, in a way.

I'd highly recommend it in exploring the map for the first time.

One note: I did 5 star all of Mexico before moving on so my stamina stat is way up. It has definitely helped.

I still cannot believe Amazon Simulator got a sequel

OP you’d have a better discussion anywhere but here.

here people go full blast on Kojima hate, that’s it.

My only gripe with this game so far is how much free stuff you get from other players. It felt like Death Stranding 1 was a little more difficult at least at the start and I was always having to collect materials to build things. In 2, I haven’t built a single structure except when required for contracts, and I haven’t picked up a single stray material. I don’t want to go fully offline because I do like being able to donate items and deliver lost cargo, but there’s an option to turn off online structures, so I may try that today.

  4. I’m not familiar with the game but that screenshot looks beautiful

  5. I know the game is intended to be played with the help of others, but I think the ultimate experience is playing offline.

  6. I feel like DS2 gives you too many tools and aids from the beginning whereas DS1 for me was kinda like the experience you describe, a proper survival game.

I can’t wait for my replay with no online mode. It can be very easy sometimes but I’m still loving it

DS is in my top 3 games of all time.

But don’t consider it survival at all if only because it’s so easy to replenish yourself.

Even more so in DS2. Pop a mailbox and build stuff.

I’m playing brutal, combat is a lot better now, but that also makes you a whole lot more efficient at it.

I have 40 hours now, I’d keep going but don’t want to spoil anything.

Putting all those patches on your backpack is crazy….mine is 100% dedicated to ammo/blood bag/grenade pouches.

Is there point of interest to explore or is it just the empty world?

OP what do you mean you skipped the ship? Do you mean that instead of hopping on the DHV Magellan to meet with the donor person you skipped it entirely and instead went out to explore Australia? Also with no vehicles or anything?

With the amount of times I get a fucking network error, I’m disconnected all the time.

Yeah, played through the first game 6 months ago for the first time, and the amount of preplaced objects was too many so I turned off that feature and it was great. I really felt like I was the first person to wall on those lands in some time.

  14. I sometimes wonder if I could play the first game now or if it just sucks without an active player base working together. Buying games at launch is a hard budget sell nowadays but this game feels like it’s meant to be played near the launch date for the real experience.

What do you mean unconnected as is no online ?

How? I haven’t died, vehicles and guns are literally everywhere. 12 hours in and it’s a very very easy game. Which is fine, the Combat and AI aren’t great anyways. It’s all about the story for me

I don’t hate other pls stuff. but I wish I could turn off specific things like all roads on monorails and no support in gathering those materials

  18. Im about 20 hrs in so far, and i love DS2, but the difficulty (or lack there of) is making me prefer the first. MULES and especially BTs felt like actual threats in the first game. My most prominent memories of DS1 are sneaking past BTs feeling absolutely powerless. In the 2nd you start with a gun that makes MULES trivial and >!you get weapons to kill BTs before you even see your first!< . It just takes away from the whole experience when the worlds major threats are just a momentary inconvenience.

On a side note, i really wish we had a way to lower the amount of structures we see. I get the theme of the game is connection to other people, but its just a bit disheartening that building things seems pointless since theres structures everywhere.

Just finished the story on Wednesday evening. I’m probably going to do a second play through totally offline.
