Forza Motorsport Series Is Reportedly Cancelled After Xbox Laid Off 50% Of Studio

This is honestly heartbreaking to see. The current Forza Motorsport has one of the longest playtimes I’ve ever clocked in any game. I heard rumors of Turn 10 being laid off but this is the worst case. Seeing the series potentially cancelled like this is just really sad. I truly hope this isn’t the end.

To the fans of the series: I am sorry for your loss.

To the fans of Forza Horizon: sounds like good news!

Holy shit man. What is even going on over there? Didn’t Microsoft pay like a gajillion dollars to buy studios recently? Now they’re just axing everyone and I read every morning about another team that’s been fired. This is terrible. How are they even going to transition to a “software” company, if that was the plan, if they’re laying off all their developers? What a fucking shitshow.

Microsoft is a dumpster fire. What the hell? Forza was their Gran Turismo.

    “Rebuilt from the ground up!”

This is the end result of years of producing bad.

  6. PinkBoxDestroyer

If they can’t make a game because half their staff is gone, what will they do? Become a support studio? Pathetic.

Thats sad to hear. Forza Motorsport is the reason why I initially bought a Xbox 360 over a PS3.

Project Gotham Racing needs to make a return

Nooooooo. Had a feeling obviously after half of T10 got fucked-off the other day. Honestly the Motorsport games have been wildly underwhelming for at least the last 3 instalments. This is a huge bummer though, truly. A lot of my core memories with gaming are tied into this series, and there are still hundreds of albums/thousands of songs I can listen to and that take me right back to driving around Maple Valley like it was just yesterday.

It sounds crazy to say, but not even Forza Horizon is safe now… It feels like every game studio is one bad entry away from being shut down because they “failed to meet expectations”.

  11. Voidfang_Investments

Quite sad. Horizon has been carrying the series for many years now.

Holy shit. Forza Motorsport is easily my favorite racing series of all time and I have so many fond memories with Forza over the last 18 years since I first played Motorsport 2. To think the series could be going out this way is frustrating and sad to see.

  13. CrotasScrota84

Forza Teams are the only developers for Microsoft that put out consistent quality games like Phil Spencer and whoever is making these decisions need to be fucking fired.

As Forza Horizon player, this is sad news for me, because I really wanted to see simcade like Gran Turismo on PC (not GT itself, as I doubt we’ll ever get a port), so I waited for FM2023, which turned out to be a disaster. And now this…

  15. Don’t worry, with Microsoft’s investment in AI, I reckon they’ll heavily use the latter to assist in creating games… What could possibly go wrong? 🙄😶

  16. jagenigma

The pile of crap left behind by the last game they released won’t be amended in a new one…

  17. HispaniaRacingTeam

I guess that’s what happens when you launch your game in a bad state with disliked features, losing the attention of many of the people who might have bought your game

  18. Resident-Forever1340

Horizon has surpassed Motorsport in every way. Now if they get rid of that then eyebrows need to be raised

Honestly I see it. They spend 6 years for a half assed game that still relied on reusing old cars, tracks and even had legacy engine bugs of FM7 while they lied in the faces of the customers with their build from the ground up, Laserscans that did not happen and visuals the game does not even come close to, while the performance is so much worse than the way better looking open world FH5. And how can you fuck Up pitstops that every car shares the same single pit clipping into each other and put exits are not even the real way how you exit the pits.

It’s sad for the employees of courses, but FM was auch a huge failure, I was actually surprised how long they were allowed to run this far after launch

The next Forza Horizon is going to suck, isn’t it?

  21. Minimum-Sleep7471

I loved Forza but the games kept getting worse and I didn’t even buy the latest one because I’d rather actually sim race. I’m probably not the only one

  22. Remember that these artists and developers sometimes are able to build their own AA studios.

I’m going to be optimistic and believe that these AA studios are the future of gaming.

  23. ConfusedGuy3260

Shame. It’s definitely my favorite racing series, but it hasn’t been good in nearly a decade imo.

  24. sleatbeasty

Damn… something weird is going on and they’re not telling us the whole story. If a game doesn’t meet expectations, do they seriously fire an entire team of 70 people?

  25. winterbegins

With this, Xbox is done for me. Touching one of the core pillars that was one of the main reasons to help get them through the Xbox One era should be criminal. Their engine also made Forza Horizon possible.

  26. BlitzWing1985

Wild to me I felt like Forza Motorsport while not the biggest name and eclipsed by it’s spin off I felt it was a very safe game with a very die hard player base in a market with not many alternatives.

  27. Bethesda need to drop Elder Scrolls 6 to save Xbox from their apparent impending demise.

  28. AdStreet2795

    My selfish thought….
Finally I’ll have to put my dreams of Forza Motorsport to bed.

Hope those workers find secure jobs soon.
    Ms sucks.

  29. achilles_4510

Forza was one of the reasons I was thinking of buying a xbox over playstation a year ago , now I don’t think anyone would even think of buying a xbox

  30. Horizon outshines Motorsport, but it still sucks to see half of the Forza franchise be iced.

  31. Ramen536Pie

Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon seemed like an odd combination of franchises to have concurrently for one studio, so much overlap between them with one of them clearly being the more popular and higher selling one
