Surprised they waited this long. Game had a ton of potential. I remember playing it during covid and having a lot of fun. But I also got it for like $5.

  2. Does that mean the game will become unplayable or just the online services?

Edit: The game is not playable offline and will be killed forever.

Dammit. I’ve really enjoyed playing Anthem with my wife. It’s the best Iron Man simulator ever made. And host some really amazing art and sound.

I don’t suppose it’ll get one of those offline fan-run revivals either. What a shame.

I’m surprised, Anthem’s servers were still running in 2025.

i love how the Q&A even has an entry for “can i play this offline”

  6. LeafMan_96

Man I know this game had tons of problems but I still had a blast when it released, it had so much going for it if they would have just went through with that anthem 2.0 update that they canceled, a shame.

I put 600 hrs in this game, flaws and all. loved the world and the flight/combat. really sad we never saw 2.0 🙁

  8. Damn shame about that game. I genuinely really like a lot of it like the gameplay, graphics and traversal.

But it’s just so empty and repetitive.

Here’s hoping it can inspire a better game.

People wanted this to be a “Destiny Killer” even though there was barely any kind of overlap that mattered.

Anthem deserved better. I ended up playing it on Game Pass or something, long after the botched release, and had a blast. I hope those flying mechanics make their way to other games.

TIL the servers were still running.

Too bad this wasn’t a No Man’s Sky, Cyberpunk 2077 sort of deal where they fixed it over time..

Super unfortunate, this game had tons of potential.

  11. this was announced the same day skg reached 1mil votes.

    concerning.

  12. The_prawn_king

Should be able to play it offline, very lame.

  13. As mediocre as the game was, this really sucks. It’s fun to mess around in it for a few hours, and the flying feels especially good. I wish they’d release an offline version, but I can’t imagine there’s enough interest to warrant that sort of effort.

That’s sad, it was fun for a while too. Had they actually supported the game it could have been amazing

  15. kalisto3010

I had fun playing the game. This game had many things wrong but did many things right.

  16. SelectivelyGood

It was inevitable. The game hasn’t been playable for years anyway; it needs other people and the servers have been empty.

Thought this died already. It’s a shame too because it’s such a beautiful game with a great concept.

This game could’ve really been something special. Shame it was abandoned. It had the bones. Just needed the love.

There’s a long list of things that EA can be denounced for. Not giving Anthem the chance it needed to bake is among the top for me.

I had that reaction that you get when you hear that a celebrity dies and you thought they had died 20 years ago at least.

  20. Sabrac707

EA shortsighted as always, they could have polish it up at least a bit, brought it to steam at a reasonable price and that might have brought some extra life to it, but nah, just axe it, is not like you spend 7 years developing this IP, just toss it into the trash can…

  21. BroxigarZ

Give the game to the community and let them fix it…someone will…

  22. InfiniteTranquilo

I thought they killed the servers years ago

  23. Right as Stop Killing Games hits 1 million signatures hahaha

  24. TheAngryFart

That game had so much potential. It could’ve dethroned Destiny with a dev team that genuinely cared for it. Forever salty about Anthem.

  25. EfficiencyOk9060

Funny thing about this is if they didn’t give up on it so soon it could have really been something special. It had tons of potential and the gameplay was fun, it just didn’t have a ton of depth or content, things that could have been improved on over time.

  26. Anthem overall gameplay was low key goated. They just needed to have an actual, not garbage story, and they needed to make the endgame better/provide more content. Such a shame they gave up so easily with it when it would probably be their most popular game right now if they would have done the 2.0 like they said, and actually put effort into it afterwards. Sad.

  27. Vikings_Pain

Can they just sell the software to a legit company so they can remake it into an actual game?

  28. SilverFlight01

On one hand, Stop Killing Games

On the other, would we really miss this game?

  29. LifeBuilder

“ Stop killing games” better follow through soon
