I was called because the PSU is acting up, shutting down the computer few seconds after pressing the button, thus all the time. It is a very old setup so it is certainly dead.
Still, I didn't extract nor open the PSU yet. I wonder how much of that… "thing" I will find growing up inside.
The owner said that his son plays with it. I don't see any GPU, maybe it was eaten.

I don’t repair pcs yet, but I’ve seen this before, its indicative of smoking cigarettes around your PC, the fans intake the tar from the cigarettes and creates a brown sticky substance that gets everywhere, especially around airflow points
Cleaning it out will take some time but its doable, use some high concentration cleaning Alcohol to get rid of the smell also

Smoker, worst one I ever got in for fixing at some point, was from a smoker who also had a male cat that wasn’t neutered. Politely gave advice on where to get a new cheap pc for office work.

That is a porning while cigaretting setup, not a gaming setup.
Not sure if this is your job, or if you’re just helping a friend in need, but they shouldn’t invest a single cent in repairing that. Depending on where you are, you can probably get a much better pc on the used market for the same price it will cost to fix this one.

My mom was a smoker, may she now rest in peace, pretty much every time I visited I cleaned out her computer. That frequent cleaning was the only thing that prevented my mom’s computer from getting like this. Thankfully I did not pick up her smoking habit.
To be completely fair (and also a subtle asshole), you can’t quite rule out a PSU issue just yet.
I hope you’re charging for hazard pay.
