As someone who doesn’t live in Europe, what’s going on here? I’ve kinda been following this news but not properly. Are there separate UK and EU versions of this going around? Also, what happens when it meets the goal?

I want to be optimistic, but I really think everyone needs to set their expectations. Changing law is not easy or fast, and even then how the law is worded together with how companies decide to comply may not be the exact result some people are wishing for.
