I’m replacing my GPU, and when taking it out i saw what looked to be a stain, (the orange thingy) but it corresponds 1:1 to where my 4 RAM sticks are with RGB? how tf did this happen, and can you get it off? Whatever i use with alcohol wipes won’t do anything!

We often talk about GPU sagging but never about GPU tanning.

I’ve seen black anodized heatsinks (aluminium) turn “gold”. It’s probable that light can have an influence.

Some cheap LEDs (especially blue) will give off a tiny bit of UV light which over time can have this effect, basically been sun bleached

Maybe you can start a GPU bleaching service

You didn’t apply sunscreen to your GPU, did you? Sunscreen saves lives!!!

SO MANY chances to say the great word “photodegrade” and none of them taken 🙁

My RGBs are so strong I have to apply SPF 50 for gaming.

Put MORE RGBs mate…. They sure help with performance.

Nothing you can do. The paint is bleached. If you really care you would need to respray the whole backplate

gpu skin melanoma from UV . Seriously though many RGB lights can emit non-ionizing UV radiation which may ‘sunbleach’ things.

Need to show this to the dude who was asking for a UV LED strip with no visible light emitted (ie. UV-B).
