Netrunner playthroughs are the source of so many haunting moments. Watching someone experience the sheer terror of a rogue AI from beyond the black wall or just ordering suicide that spreads through an entire group is terrifying.
Even the non-lethal hacks look awful to experience. Just because you’re not dead after experiencing short circuit or overheat doesn’t mean you’re ever going to be okay.

I did this to Brigitte when she challenged me. It was wonderfully fulfilling to quickhack one of best netrunners in the city. She got the Aura treatment, the other VBDs in the room got the chemical/overheat explosion combo.
Given how we get a bullet time view while selecting quickhacks they were probably conscious long enough to see the demons being uploaded and knew they couldn’t stop it.

My first playthrough I knocked her out and lobbed her over the side of the building. But it didn’t count as a death so I got the ‘Dolls in Charge, Maiko Lives’ cutscene with Judy. Hilarious to think that she survived and walked off falling from a mega tower

Frieran and Aura were literally the first to come to mind when I saw the braid get cut off
A guy walks on the beach in Pacifica. A large group of scavs are watching tv, and one of them notices him. His eyes widen.
“Hey, that’s the kunt who waip’d our guys in Watson and the Scraper!”
“Moderfuker, kill him!”
They all start moving, and the guy looks at them. A second later they all start to spark, smoke and scream, some of them fall on the ground outright from the pain, their weapons falling from their hands.
“FUCKER’S HACKING, BLYAT!”-one of them screams, before the back of his head bursts into flames, and he falls on his knees, screaming and spasming.
The guy turns towards the few scavs still standing, who are now desperately scrambling to find cover, and try their best to disperse their terrible pain with some out-of-date airhypos. The scavs have a netrunner, she hides behind their couch they were sitting on not 10 seconds ago, while two others run behind the nearby bungalow.
“Eat this, you piece of shit!” The scav netrunner finds the guy through a nearby security camera, and launches cyberware malfunction and overheat on him.
The guy looks at the camera, and then directly towards her.
“Oh no no NO! AAAAH, NOT LIKE THIS-”
The scav runner screams, as her arm pulls her pistol from the holster, and raises it to her temple against her will. She can hear a gunshot from behind her, and a terrified scream turning into loud gurgling before her finger pulls the trigger, and blows her brain out.
The guy looks at the scav group, eight of them incapacitated or dead in 15 seconds, and he didn’t even need overclocking. Not bad, but could be better. A single bead of sweat rolls down his face as he walks on.

I fought her fair and square with a katana, she hit me, shock’n’awe triggered, she started sweating blood as her fried cyberware boiled her from the inside.
She really is not a strong NPC.

I just did this mission. I am playing mostly pacifist and I kept telling Judy and Maiko “no killing!” (For me; Tom
And Roxanne can do what they please)… but I forgot that short circuit is actually fatal. So I killed the Tyger Claws and shutdown Maiko.
