It's an Xps (8930 I think?) With an i9 9th and an Rtx 2080 super. Never overclocked I'd imagine since it was my grandpa who owned it. He pretty much just used it for security monitoring and running his investment/stocks apps.

I know it's a bit old but the hardware was supposedly top tier back in 2019 and even though 8gb cards are fading out, this should still be feasible for now right? Thanks guys

Its fine. Look at 2080s benchmarks for more info.

It also has 32gb of ram, I believe it is capped at 2667 mhz though. I dont know if he’s throwing in the drives or not but it did have an ssd too

It’ll be great for gaming. I was on a 2080 / 3900x until very recently and could run any game at 1440p medium to high settings.

  4. JustAnother4848

Yes. That’ll definitely work. That is more powerful than many other people’s PCs.

  5. helican

That’s still pretty good stuff. Especially for free.

9900k and 2080s is still pretty solid. Enjoy that.

  7. cutlarr

Still decent for gaming, specially in 1080p

Sorry for swearing but, kurwa mać, I wish I had a grandpa like this one!

  12. AdSubstantial3900

nope. It’s completely ass. Intel i9 might be able to give you like 2fps on coolmathgames but that’s about it. I’ll buy it for ~$200 (I think I might be able to use it for my christmas lights)

    >!jk, it’s pretty cool lucky guy :)!<

Grandpa was a DAWGGGG. Got the 2080 super.

  15. Impressive-Health211

Nah mate it’s shit, basically scrap send it to me so we recycle n stop climate change👀

  16. ilostmypaperplate

seems the only problem you’ll have gaming now is managing your steam library. Grandpa with the rig

  17. duk-er-us

lol bless Gramps for buying this rig to do stonks. By all accounts this pc will run plenty of games just fine, OP. 🙂

Very Solid PC for Gaming. It might chug a bit on newer games, especially if they have ray tracing or you try to run theme at higher graphics.

But overall, great PC. and you can always upgrade the graphics card if you find one secondhand.

  19. Dafferss

That’s a very solid system which should run any modern game at medium-high settings.

  20. ProPakz

Why does that case actually look pretty sweet

  21. gamermanj4

For free, I’d be hard pressed to find anything worth complaining over.

  22. Hot_Resolution4594

holy sleeper I was not expecting that 2080S just clicking through the pictures. Did a double take lol. I was expecting much worse this is perfectly fine for gaming maybe not the highest settings on recent stuff but should work for most stuff.

  23. flooble_worbler

Wow did your grandad do anything heavy with computers? If not he got upsold HARD on his pc. Yeah that’s a brilliant gaming pc for free. He’ll it’s a good pc in its own right

  24. ProudDudeistPriest

I have a 2070 super GPU (slightly older than the one in that PC) and can run everything on high settings or better. Except Crysis. Never Crysis.

  25. Jaded-Citron-4090

Dude that’s a lit ass system for free. Probs still cost 400-500$

  26. MonkeyCartridge

Yeah this should do you pretty well. I believe it’s comparable to a 5060. Might be slower at AI and RT due to older cores, but faster at higher resolutions due to a wider memory bus.

For most games, it isn’t terrible to configure them to use <8GB of VRAM.

  27. hamsystem

That price to performance ratio is pretty sweet
