Today is a sad day for millions of users. Nvidia announced that they're stopping making new drivers for Maxwell, Pascal and volta nased GPUs in the next game ready driver Branch (580.00) You will always be remembered, 1080ti (and 750ti, ofc!)
I’ma keep using the 1050ti in my portable streaming rig until it melts into a puddle

I haven’t had an Nvidia GPU for over a decade now, but I must give it to Nvidia. These architectures that are entering EoL have had a long service life. Those who are still using these can’t complain. There might be some continuity left for it in Linux?
There are likely still to be driver updates/patches for security reasons, but not for further optimization or full game support.

this doesnt mean that these cards will just explode tomorrow. it means nothing really. the cards will run the stuff they run today exactly the same forever. i dont understand why people take such offense to drivers

My 1070 is still going strong in my living room PC but still RIP updates

The 10series was one of the best times of my gaming life. Slapped a antec aio and nzxt bracket with liquid metal on the die and aluminum heatsinks on the vrm’s. Card is still kicking ass on my shelf today 😆 it never died even with a 30% oc on a 1080. I just came across a really good deal on a 4090 is why I upgraded.

I just got a 5070 and it 14700k with msi z790 plus wifi and sometimes my mouse stuck for a sec or stop taking inputs, it happening from starting

A end of drivers update isn’t really significatif. Can’t compare to an OS end if support for exemple.
My beloved 1080ti serve no in my girlfriend PC. And as she play stuff like Celeste, or at the very worst sea of thieves, yeah, it’s will be enough for years.m and years.

My GTX 750 TI OC! It works fine NVIDIA. Idgaf that is like 15

I’m gonna be honest, I think the main reason why nvidia cut off support for 10 series cards (along with 7 series ofc), was because the cards are still used today, which is an issue for their marketing.
My dual Titan Xp setup is still going very strong playing new games at 1080p 60 to 4k high-ultra at 30 very nicely, and it’s going to keep doing that even when we get to the RTX 8000 series of GPUs in the future. The problem is, no game right now has even been taking advantage of the hardware on these new GPUs at all.
You would’ve expected very detailed and optimized games based on the 4 generations that came after the 10 series graphics cards but instead it’s a bunch of unoptimized garbage that makes people think their current system is too “slow”, when it actually isn’t.
TL:DR I feel that Nvidia hasn’t released anything that makes people actually wanna upgrade tbh to these newer GPU’s, and when they said the 10 series cards were perfected, they weren’t lying.

It’s not like it’ll stop working lol

Version 580.00 won’t come out till early next year so there’s still time to save and upgrade I’m thinking to upgrade to 9070xt from gtx1060 or if unda releases early next year I may go with that

My Sony Xperia 5ii hasn’t had an update in 5 years… Is it incredibly insecure security wise? Heck yeah. Do I care? Not in the slightest xD.

Its a shame its going EOL, but if we are all honest, the card is 10 yrs old, which is a fair stretch by anyone’s standards, even more so it being technology that is constantly being developed. It maybe time to press “F” on the driver updates, but it wont stop me using my Gigabyte 1080 Waterforce Extreme along with my good old Skylake 6700k – i tend not to play cutting edge games, not a lot appeals to me these days, im kinda old school (lets say my first actual computer was a ZX81, should give you an idea how long ive been playing games). My Skylake and 1080 have seen me through a lot of gaming -mainly stuff like Subnautica, WOW, SC2, RA3, Ark SE, DayZ Epoch, FO4, etc – no problem playing those games on that system and you know what? Im going to keep playing games on this until it dies. Its been a rock of a system and when it does go, it will be a sad day – but until then, im not taking out a mortgage for a new system.
Long Live the 1080!

Does this include the 1600 cards? The in-between ones like the 1660ti and such?

Omg finally free of all the “mY 1080 ti iS sO gOoD iT’s JuSt BaDlY oPtiMiSeD gAmEs” and we can finally move on to the 3060 12gb as the best used budget nvidia gpu. (6750xt still overal used budget king)
Tbh I say don’t upgrade until your gpu can’t run the games you ACTUALLY play, but most of the people I see make it everyone elses problem that their nearly 10 year old gpu can’t run a brand new game at 1080p high 120fps.
“B-but it was a flagship” well too damn bad the 590€ 5070 is as strong as the 1700€ 3090 ti (without taking dlss 4 into account) for nearly half the power consumption
Games become more demanding, technologies evolve. Yes nvidia is a shitty company that runs decieving advertising and screws everyone for money but most of their customers also are idiots tbh.
People have to be a bit more aware of what the reality is, and it’s pretty shit but this behavior of “i’ve had my gpu for 6 years so it should run this new big AAA game on ultra without issues” is just plain idiotic
Tom201326
That reminds me of my GTX 750 2gb that’s been sitting in my closet, the very card that opened me to a world where I can crank my settings up a bit without making the game unplayable (back in 2017). Such an era!

What irritates me is people were expecting the 1080 to run DOOM The Dark Ages and we’re pissed because it couldn’t but in 2016 you didn’t see people upset the 8800 GTX couldn’t run DOOM 2016. The 1080 turns 9 this year, the 8800 GTX was 9 in 2016….

Bruh, a lot of people with 4000 series here use 2024 December drivers to avoid issues and are probably doing fine.
That driver support end won’t matter that much for those cards.

I’ll use my 1080 until I’m dead! Which might be by 2030 anyway.

1- say 1080 ti good 2- 80 million upvotes 3′ profit
The Aorus 1080 ti I got in 2017 served me well. RIP comrade.
When I remember repasting it, stripping then drilling the screw in 2023. Still alive and kicking
It served me well, but time to move on 🥲
Seems my timing is alright:

Nooo not my GTX970!
Maybe I should consider upgrading my hardware?
No.
No, it’s Nvidia’s fault they should just keep the drivers updated for these cards despite my inability to play modern games!!!
RIP
I am still rocking my 1080ti and 1080 for my wife.
*Hugs 1080ti just a little closer*
I never had a 1080ti but I almost want one to frame as a testament to a time when value existed in PC gaming.
No one knew what kind of insane longevity that card would have when it came out.
..can i has? it’s like.. 20% faster than what i have lmao
edit: WAIT SHIT I THOUGHT YOU WERE UPGRADING!! NOOOOOOOO
(James May voice)
Does that mean i’m not gonna be able to play GTA 6 then?
(Jeremy Clarkson)
yes.. yes that means you won’t be playing GTA 6
