It is here to stay, so better to embrace it, learn it, and make it better.
Drivers branched the other day, so everything below 20xx series is on borrowed time.

As long as it’s good enough to look decent and run smoothly I’m fine with some fake frames in my life.
Common_Dot526
I like Frame Gen, gets me to the target FPS in demanding scenarios and mostly removes the dips
But I dont want it to be a crutch or a performance metric
Electrical_Crew7195
If it doesnt introduce significant lag what is the problem? Same as upscaling
Labia-Sniffer
This scene single handedly made me truly understand the meaning of the term “Ignorance is bliss” as a 9 year old
Brief-Watercress-131
Smooth yes, responsive maybe. Everyone has a different tolerance but for me in most games with good movement tech, I need a base frame rate of at least 90fps to not feel input lag.
IceColdCorundum
You know, they make my game feel more fluid and responsive, so it’s not a big deal they’re fake. I mean, we’re looking at pixels on a screen generated by magic lines and silicon. Captured via our eyes and interpreted by the brain. It’s all fake. So, higher fps, please.
Vagamer01
it’s even smoother when you use the steam fps counter and look at both frame gen and take your constant actual fps and subtract it by 3 and lock it to that fps and I present to you true smoothness
A-X-O-L-O-T-L47e8r6
But why should we be accepting that frame gen is the new standard? Shouldn’t we be making the devs optimize their own game to let frame rates get better naturally? Instead of making people use AI generated frames?
Aggressive_Ask89144
I want more frames for reduced latency…not more…it doesn’t help to gaslight my eyes if my mouse and keyboard feels like it’s in molasses. I was trying to run Stalker 2 on my 6600xt with it and it was a horrendous experience lmao. Like 45ms delay in a shooter feels so weird.
DLSS4 + FSR4 are *amazing* for upscaling but frame generation isn’t helpful for me lol.
STB_LuisEnriq
90% of the time I don’t see or feel any issues, which why, if a game doesn’t have FG, I lock my FPS and use Lossless Scaling to get at least those sweet 120 FPS.
k789k789k81
Too much ghosting and lag for my tastes id rather have smooth lower fps. I’ve had good luck with upscaling though.
geassguy360
Firm believer that if you have input lag reduced in every way you can with a good screen and all the proper settings turned on, and decent performance to start, that frame generation can feel fine or even great.
My setup gets like 90 fps on DOOM TDA and frame gen gets me to 120 and it still feels great.
smoothartichoke27
This scene has actually been on loop in my head when i first turned frame gen on and every single time after.
KinkyFraggle
Dude I have to us it on stalker 2, without the frames are good in paper but it is too choppy, fg smooth that out real good
Downtown-Scar-5635
There aren’t many games out there that push a standard 1440 monitor to the point where frame Gen is even necessary. I typically just turn that shit off.
Vengeance5051
I use it depending on how the game plays with it.
lordfappington69
Frame gen is great for spectating a game or watching a replay, actually playing its awful
piciwens
Played lies of p overture 4k max with fsr4 quality and frame gen with 200 fps and it wss smooth and glorious
WarmasterChaldeas
I do not think I ever got to use frame gen siince my upgrade. Feels a bit redundant. Not sure.
trailer8k
lol

HisDivineOrder
I imagine frame generation is great for displays above 120 because the base framerate can still be high enough to give good latency before the frame gen penalty is felt. Like 240hz.
But my 120hz display experience, especially when Reflex pushes the framerate down to 116 automatically, means it feels like sub-sub-60 gaming with the 58 ick being amplified by the frame gen latency penalty.
I really wanted frame gen to be good. It’s just not for my use case.
ChuzCuenca
I love this quote about fake frames,
“The less you need frame gen the better it gets”
accursedvenom
Think I have fg on in cyberpunk with dlss with a 12gb 4070 and 32gb of ram. You telling me it would run better/fine without it and still be smooth? Think I get “90fps” with fg on in cyberpunk. I use my pc on the same 4K tv I use with my Xbox and ps5.
Cleenred
Till you use it in a game that requires more than vaguely movie your mouse and pointing at things. FPS with a sub 100fps base for framegen are nearly unplayable for me.
Blastmeh
This is an S tier meme that hits the nail on the head
Alan_Reddit_M
My brother was recently hunting for a new GPU and was absolutely marvelled at the funny technology that magically doubles your FPS, he did not give a single fuck that the frames weren’t real and I think we can all stand to learn something from him: If it looks smooth then it is smooth
elkunas
Fake frames are fine as long as they are advertised like that.
Tessisbest505
I play with frame gen always on. I even tested on gs off in games like the new COD and didn’t notice any major input latency in my 200+ hours of playing it.
martini1294
It’s telling you it’s smooth…. It definitely isn’t telling you it’s responsive
djwikki
I have a 7900 XTX. FSR4 is cool and all, but I’m not much of a multiplayer gamer so I can use Optiscaler to put XeSS and XeFG into whatever game I want. And with how good XeSS is, it’s definitely not worth it for just FSR4.
Competitive-Web-1500
Fake frames good. 80% of the advertised fps the GPU can render? Bad.
longinuslucas
We’ve been watching fake frames for a long time. All video editing softwares like Premiere and Davinci generate new frames when they re encode the video for export.
AurienTitus
As long as you ignore all the artifacts, that get worse the larger the screen is and the higher the resolution is.
coolguyRae
Ignorance is bliss…
Early_Wrap_9190
Frame generation is actually good. It doesn’t feel any different on most games, the input delay is negligible but will depend on the baseline fps and responsiveness but overall its good.
Raestloz
I use FG on strategy games. Those are games where capping to 30 and FG to 60 is actually a very good idea
