Note: I'm talking specifically about the BO6 guns, i know that, in the case of really specific guns like the Conversion kit for the Raal, the JAK PROTEAN, it is really neccesary to make it better. But other than that, i think the switch to semi-auto is an option not that useful. And that button should be used for something else
(I know you can assign that button to another action, but, by default, why it still exist?)

It’s there to remove the need for a select fire attachment

I actually have a friend who runs sniper support and uses Semi Auto mode on a lot of different gun classes to great success.

AEK Full Auto mod put into semiauto mode actually kinda slaps.

I hit that by mistake and get killed almost every day.

I switch to semi if there’s someone a little further away and I don’t have a sniper rifle yet. Recoil is easier to control and my shots stay on target

I run the r&k mutlizoom and long barrel on my kilo, I’ll 7x in single shot 100+m away.

I pick up dead enemies guns, set it to single shot and drop it again

I use that a lot when I get some full-auto high recoil weapon like SMG or LMG but need a large distance shot.

Also useful for Assault Rifles when you don’t want to waste bullets.

You can tap the trigger in small bursts or even single bullets even in auto mode.

  10. Well, in MWII, it was designed for people to make precision shots and the game rewarded them with higher damage. But because people fired too quickly with it, they chose to nerf them all into oblivion

So, now, semi-automatic is borderline useless with the majority of the guns.

There are an extremely small number of games out there that actually consider that people might use macros, so they either lock the trigger or issue a subsequential expanding delay when it detects that each trigger pull is identical in time to the last few, basically simulating hand fatigue.

Call of Duty developers can’t wrap their heads around this concept. They can do it for jumping but not for trigger pulls.

Semi-auto changes the damage profile on some weapons.

because some guns are dog shit in full auto mode?

Because MW19 had it and every COD game since has desperately tried to recapture what it did.

In bo6 is pointless however in mw2022 and 2023 it makes battle rifles deal more dmg

  15. If you play smart and slow it’s better for longer ranges. Most people run a snuper or marksman rifle if they want long range but it really helps just to have the switch on ARs if it’s all you got at the time.

It actually can be fairly useful ngl

Some guns, even if you’re just tapping to shoot single-fire, still have noticble recoil. Semi-auto switch reduces that making ARs better for potshots at longer ranges

Hell i believe in some cases it reduced to the TTK for some guns

I switch to semi in single player sometimes. Makes it feel more immersive popping shots off

Because the hit registration is so bad your guns will actually sometimes do more damage if it’s in semi
