That whole article sounded like AI written fantasy garbage. I don’t believe a single word.

The thing with actual psychosis is that most people are so disconnected from reality during an episode that they don’t even realise anything is wrong.
I think what’s more accurate is that it’s fucking with people in terms of depression and isolation, and that is what they are identifying.
News articles just inflate the story so more people will read it and they make more money.
Edit: I’m also calling bullshit on the “no previous history of mental illness” part. If someone is triggered that hard by a fucking chatbot, they absolutely had a few screws loose beforehand.

Tbf these people would’ve had a psychotic break anyway.
It’s like back in the 60s when people were blaming The Beatles White Album because Charles Manson and his crew of loons were inspired by it. Or Mark Chapman being inspired to kill John Lennon after reading Catcher in the Rye.
Moral of the story; mentally unstable people can be inspired to do crazy things by anything.

If were talking psychosis may wanna look at Tramp… I mean Trump and supporters.

Cyberpsychosis already exist in our world.
Cyberpsychosis is loosing your humanity, and I think that people that are alone in an appartement in a giant city, with no friends, no family, living alone, walking in the streets full of people that consider the others as props more than other humans, can developp something similar to the cyberpsychosis.
You can loose your humanity without having cyberware, it’s more difficult, because you are still made of the same thing as other humans, but you definitely can.

I’d say it’s more of an issue of an psychotic illness exacerbated by the sycophantic CharGPT that always will cave in and play into whatever power fantasy someone might have, no matter how ridiculous it is. Basically, if someone has a dormant grandiose delusion and megalomania, something like ChatGPT very convincingly saying that your thoughts and ideas are perfect and make total sense can be a final straw that breaks the camel’s back. It’s pretty scary sure, but there’s nothing to suggest that perfectly healthy people are spiraling out of control because of ChatGPT. At least not yet.

I don’t need ChatGPT to make me aware of my severe mental issues. I need ChatGPT to either conjure the thousands needed for the therapy out of the thin air, or failing that, do its best to support me so I don’t off myself – of the second it is doing an admirable job at an affordable price.

Honestly I would have believed this was real until I clicked on the main page and saw ‘scientists investigate what happens if you snort moon dust’

All that’s happening here is a chatbot shining light on a mental health crisis that’s been brewing in America for decades.
