Great, now it shows an update-like screen for extra trauma.

  2. MrStrul3

Well at least it’s showing an actual error message again.

  3. Save-Maker

And with the black screen appearing out of nowhere, on top of the error you also a reflection of yourself on the screen.

So is there a good reason for this or did they just change things to justify being employed?

  5. MrHeffo42

Like seriously. They don’t NEED to mess with EVERY LITTLE THING. Some things more than others make Windows Windows, and the Blue Screen is one of them. It’s one of the most distinct defining features of Windows and they just tossed it.

Can we PLEASE start a petition to revert this travesty. If I wanted Black screens of death, I would have installed linux.

In this day and age, I’m surprised they didn’t change it to Rainbow Screen of Death 🌈

    Fucking can’t have shit anymore

feels like microsoft isn’t going to be happy until there brand identity is copilot and crappy idea’s that never work out.

  9. Theusualyogi

It will still be known as BSOD. It’s just black instead of blue.

OLED exists and is becoming wildly popular:
Microsoft: we need more white text on black backgrounds especially in critical failure states where its entirely possible for the system to lock up.

  11. Wow! They made it black and aren’t even sad anymore that their software messed up.

    I’m impressed.

  12. StoikG7

Bro at least repost it. I posted this bro.

  13. GroundbreakingFix685

    Whatever, it’s still the BSOD.

“Boss, we need to get rid of all the blue screens of death, people are complaining…”

    Boss: “hold my beer”

  15. Skwalou

I don’t care much for the change but I’d rather they spend their time actually working on their OS.

MS is playing the long game.
In 20-30 years only old timers would remember the BlueSOD.
the next ones will know the BlackSOD, which at the and is the same acronym just more moody and scary .
At least till now we had a sad face to comfort us

  17. supercabul

it still BSOD in the end of the day 😅

  18. x7_omega

MSFT should have upgraded their stock exchange ticker to BSOD. To preserve this heritage forever. A three trillion dollar BSOD.

Best to leave the ‘oh it’s fucked’ mode in the manner to which we’ve all become accustomed.

  20. Danteynero9

Not only that, but they also caved in and FINALLY removed the useless QR.

  21. DrIvoPingasnik

They could have at least left the blue colour.

It was distinct enough to see there is a problem from miles away.

I had a blue screen recently that came out of nowhere and fried my entire OS.
I was editing a page on my website at the time.
After it rebooted the only thing that would open was task manager.

Every single restore, rollback, and command tool was broken.
    I couldn’t even reset it.
I had to clean install it from a USB drive using the media creation tool.

I’ve never seen anything like it.

  23. Imaginary_Lows

It’s really stupid. Why would they remove it? “Blue screening” is an established term. They’re just so set on change for change’s sake.

  24. General-Interview599

    So, Black Screen of Death.

  25. BradyvonAshe

This is actually really moronic change, i dont know much about computers but i know alot about people, the Blue screen was VERY reconisable , everyone even my gran knows if you hit the Blue screen something went wrong, like i can understand changing the written info but why to Black?
