As others said, the main missions are the excuse to be in the world, so use it and lose yourself as long as you want. Have fun !

I envy you. Not only for your first time experience but because your first time experience is the state the game is currently in. I have always loved it but the launch state was…..something.

One piece of advice: Play it slow. Don’t go running and gunning like I did on my first playthrough. You’ll miss like half the game.

I’ve played it multiple times since it was actually released and even then it was one of my favorite games. I can’t imagine going in blind now. Just know you’ll enjoy it and it’s truly one of the best rpgs.

Don’t be bitter about the ending where you end up at a random save point and the world is like the last chapter never happened. I haven’t picked up the game since although I hear the dlc is pretty good.
Hope you’ll enjoy! Just take your time, get immersed, and make sure to also do side missions! Many of them genuinely feel so much better than the main story missions. I replayed the game 7 times, and it’s always been the side missions I looked the most forward to in my replays.
Also tip for screenshot: you can press Win + Shift + S to use the snipping tool, which makes a screenshot of an area you select. Ever since I learned that shortcut, it’s been a gamechanger that I didn’t have to screenshot the whole monitor(s).
Do not ask people what you should pick – just play. You will re-play for all the “bad” choices or roads not taken, so no good putting yourself under pressure the first time.
First timer? I envy you.

Good game but still has a few bugs and after the first 100 hours, it’s starting to feel hella dry.
