This mostly forgotten weapon in counter strike should have some amount of use in the game outside of a troll buy.

My suggestion would be to reduce that ridiculous price tag of 5200$ to 4750$ same as an awp.

Then id give it the ability to 1 shot head armor at medium range (1.5x more than five seven range).

And then the recoil should be toned down a slight bit just like the famas was for premier season 2. (just for consistency (the guns design seems to be trying a middle ground between a lmg and a rifle and i wanna build onto that).

I believe that this could make the weapon a little more flexible and entice players to actually consider equipping the damn thing.

Whilst an ak/awp on the t side will likely always be the first pick, adding a one shot headshot fully automatic lmg on ct side could rock the meta up a little bit.

it should do this without making the m249 a straight upgrade over the other rifles.

Mainly because the recoil at range would still be a hassle to control at longer ranges and players will be reliant on spray control something the negev hardly suffers from after the first few shots.

Now did i overtune the weapon, probably at least for ct side.

But id still like to see it in action and it should be easy to revert if it was put in game.

Note: if people complained about the suppresive aspect they could rework the gun to use an actual extended M4 magazine similar to the rainbow six siege version gridlock can use. So 100 bullets to 60-50 depending on how valve would wanna rework it.

Consider giving me feedback on these changes or add your own i'd like this gun to be used but not overshadow the main rifles.

Keep the price but give it the same stats as the M4 but with more ammo, do the same with the Negev and the AK, give them only to the CTs and Ts, and they will actually be a viable option for certain situations without being over- or underpowered.

Other than that it’s obvious Valve doesn’t even want this weapon to be in the game. But a side effect of selling skins is they can’t remove weapons anymore, so they just make them useless. “Interesting” game design for sure

  2. Sad that the load out system significantly reduced whatever hope there was for underutilized weapons

  3. The gun is imho in a perfect spot: it’s the most expensive gun in the game yet the recoil alone makes the gun garbage, and the damages is too low.
This makes it the perfect troll/”I am that much better than you” weapon alongside the nova, the R8 and the PP Bizon in full buy.
    The psychological impact is priceless

  4. I think you should move faster with it if your agent skin is jacked af

Do not change the price or recoil pattern.
Just make it a one-hit headshot like the AK, and accurate while shift-walking like the Negev.

Make it identical to the AK in every way including spray pattern, +100 round mag. Make price same as AWP. Make the penetration same as awp. IDK still might as well just use ak…

Look I get where you are coming from, I would also like more weapons to be viable in competitive especially for full buys.

The problem is in a 5v5 game you dont need 200 bullets, even in a best case situation for example: you get the opportunity to fight all 5 enemies on the other team you only aim for body shots and miss 50% of them. Well the m249 is like 5-6 body shots to kill so if we miss half of them that’s 60 bullets to kill all 5 of the enemies. So even in the rarest possible situation you dont need the mag size, its basically a 0% chance you are going to be in a spot that paying the extra money for it over the m4 is going to pay off. Especially in MR12 where economy is so important, remember when the m4a4 was 3000 dollars? we rarely saw it bought compared to 2900 m4a1s.

This gun isnt designed for comp, its meant to be used in 10v10 casual or for community servers running weird gamemodes like zombie escape or something,

  8. there is little reason to make the m249 actually worth its price. no one at the top level would ever buy a gun thats not an awp for ~5k unless theyre already steamrolling with tons of money. it would just make already winning teams have more of an advantage.

What if it was made into an anchor weapon? Effective hold corridors and such.

Imagine a ct anchor on Dust B site holding tunnels, ready to unleash hell if the ts dont play correctly

Make it an ak with mags of 90, keep price, maybe tone down or rework the recoil pattern

  11. I think it should be what a machine gun essentially is – a low movement, high damage gun.
    1. Reduce cost no doubt, same as awp sounds like a good starting point.
    2. One tap at any range.
    3. Very low movement/jumping accuracy, ok standing accuracy, good crouching accuracy.
    4. 3 body shot kills (this might be overkill, might me either this or the price drop)

Just a reminder that the Negev has never officially left the “beta” stage.

Seriously I’m still mad they decided to change LMGs like that. Old Negev was expensive af and only bought to troll people but at least it was a legitimately strong weapon for the price. The M249 on the other hand has always been hot garbage.

If they just made the M249 what Negev is today and left the old Negev alone it would have been so much better.
