Sorry for taking a pic instead of a screenshot but i couldn't get the PrtSc to work becuz of the game's graphical settings 🙂

    lock ?

+ look in game settings – graphics – vertical synchronization

    Specs:

    – i7 13650hx

    – RTX 4050

    – 16gb DDR5 RAM

    Game is Farming simulator 25

I know for a fact that my laptop can run the game at a much higher frame rate since it used to (it would run at 100-120 fps). Also, i don’t think the CPU is being a bottleneck becuz 1- it’s only 50% utilized, and 2- i removed the temperature and power limits from the CPU and the FPS remained the same.

Turning off DLSS results in the GPU using up 70W but also achieving the same exact FPS. It only works at 90W (which is not its max) in the pause menu and achieves 100 FPS.

Well its CPU bound then, or you have locked fps with in game settings, or some 3rd pt software such as RTSS. Turning on Vsync will also lock to 60 if your monitor has 60Hz refresh rate. (It can sometimes show 61, if its always locked 61 then its that).

But almost certainly CPU, also not all cores are utilized (especially not evenly distributed load and fully), so you will pretty much never see 100% usage in any game, doesn’t mean it’s not CPU bound.

  4. Careful-Wave-6846

considering your framerate you may have the game capped at 60 fps or have vsync on with a 60hz display.

if you’re able to plug it id imagine it helps performance

it might also be trying to not overheat as the gpu temps shouldnt be that high for 50 watts being used

  5. Spleshga

    Your CPU is drowning there.

Yes, even 55% might be signalling of a CPU bottleneck. Temp is also concerning.

By-the-core table view can show which cores are under 100% load.

  6. iPhoenix_Ortega

Lemme guess, you are playing on 1080p?

  7. Extra_Speaker9083

The CPU usage is 55%, but the cores that the game is utilising may be at more than 55% ?

The 61 FPS could also be an indication that there is a limit on framerates. Maybe since you are on the laptop there is a power optimisation scheme somewhere ?

  8. MagicBoyUK

It’s likely CPU bound on a single thread.

  9. Stilgar314

Some games are capped to a certain refresh rate. Mayycheck that.

  10. deep8787

Im also assuming you already had a google to know if its even possible to run if above 60fps? Also, if theres no options in the game to select a FPS, I am guessing the game is locked to 60 fps.

Kinda hard to help when you dont give any info about which game youre talking about…

Thermal throttling on the cpu? You may have a max temp set somewhere and components won’t work harder when they hit higher temps.

  12. Tw33die84

I’d say thermal throttling based on the CPU temp.

  13. Those temps are quite high for 50% load aren’t they? Even at 100% load my graphics card only ever reaches mid or lower 60 C.

Also cpu limites or you are capped at 60fps. Some games especially consol ports are locked to 60fps

  14. Imaginary-Marketing3

Because your cpu is a bottleneck.

  15. Dusty_V2

Laptop plugged in? I know mine defaults into a lower power consumption mode when not plugged in

  16. Sn0vvman

    Laptop<<<<<<your answer, thermal limits

  17. tailslol

probably the cpu at 86 degree, i wonder if it can start to thermal throttle.

this is a reason why i tend to prefer desktops.

    maybe a vsync lock somewhere

  18. patrlim1

Ram bottleneck, or you have a framerate limit on. Disable vsync if it’s on.

  19. Because it’s a laptop, it could either be CPU bottleneck, or power limit (150w?)

  20. Amirkerr

I had a similar problem and I found out that my laptop had different power option : gaming mode, energy saving mode and silent mode.

For me the option to change between modes was not in windows settings but in a software from the constructor that came with my pc.

  21. EomerOfEorl

Depends on your CPU it’s most probably CPU bound but it could even the game, Helldivers 2 is optimised like crap and I don’t often go over 85% GPU usage, I have a 5080 and 9800X3D but this was also an issue with my old rig which was a 4070s and a 5700X3D.

  22. nairazak

Not sure if it is your case but my ryzen 7600 had a thermal throttle at that temperature, despite internet saying the max was 95C.

  23. kardall

Probably a power limit with that low of a power draw. If the GPU is capped at a low amount (probably a laptop?) Then that’s as much as it’s going to give you and the rest of the system just has to deal with it.

You could see if maybe your laptop is in an ‘eco mode’ and change it to best performance and see if it helps? Sometimes the Windows laptop auto-sets eco friendly to improve battery and use less power, which in-turn drops the power draw on all of the components in the system.

  24. Russian_Bot1337

Probably thermal throttling if I had to guess.

  25. ResidualWasabi

turn your settings and frame rate cap up, your GPU isn’t pushing hard enough

  26. OkAd255

Check refresh rate in windows settings, if a UE5 game, it’s highly likely to
Be cpu bound, what cpu do you have? Ue5 titles easily put my desktop 12000k thru the ringer, make sure laptops plugged in

  27. pirate135246

The power adapter is also a power supply in most gaming laptops. If your power adapter is and you aren’t plugged in, you limit the power and thus the frames of the system

  28. yobarisushcatel

Your CPU is 86 degrees, it’s probably the bottleneck

  29. a1rwav3

Could be a lot of things, even corrupted Windows. I has a similar issue with my high end config… 140fps on Valorant and CPU and GPU at 12-15%.ive tried everything. Really everything. Only a Windows restauration makes me able again to reach the 900fps…
