
I've had two 16 GB sticks of DDR5 in my system for the past year running fine on XMP. I have a Asus Z790-V motherboard. I decided to buy another identical kit because I didn't want to sell and re-buy. Initially, I was unable to boot with XMP so I updated BIOS and I was able to boot into Windows but it was not stable. I've been looking through posts and they've mentioned stuff like SA, IMC, VDD2, VDD, VDDQ voltage. The only things I can find in my BIOS are VDD and VDDQ, I've tried increasing them to 1.435 (the max it allows apparently) and decreasing to 5600 mhz, as well as changing "PMIC Voltages" setting to "By per PMIC" but its still unstable and gets BSOD during memtest64. I'm also unsure whether to use XMP I or XMP II, I've tried both. I watched this video and he mentions that I should move the original kit to adjacent slots and put the new kit in the remaining two. I also watched another video saying I should increase impedence values if I am able to boot to Windows but there are errors. How do I do this?

Running 2 DIMMs per channel with DDR5 is extremely hard on the memory controller, and Intel 12th gen has a pretty bad DDR5 memory controller in the first place.
Start by disabling XMP, setting everything to auto and setting the speed to 4800MT/s, which is the officially supported DDR5 speed of the 12900K.
