Wow, A LOT of teams skipped. I guess tier-1 teams learned to pace themselves after last season (Cologne starts 3 days after this).
Also, it appears PGL wasn’t specifically singled out by top teams, but rather all non-ESL/BLAST operators who (presumably) don’t offer org incentives.
Also also, special props to B8 for deciding to skip this for political reasons. This is a field they could’ve done some damage in. I personally don’t necessarily agree with their reasoning, but I can’t fault someone for giving up money and/or career prospects for standing by their principles.

damn Astralis are going to place 3-4th and stay relevant for all season again because of this

I am actually a fan of these 1.5 events, I can enjoy the prestige of Cologne and future Krakow but it also gives me time to watch and enjoy smaller teams and gives the teams VRS points and a potential trophy. Kinda a win win here

I understand Liquid still think of themselves as a top dog but they need VRS points badly after bombing out of the major, tough bracket or not. Immensely disappointed they didn’t agree to this.

Astralis, Furia, VP and Pain has to be favorites no? Failing here would be donating VRS points that basically secure them invites for the rest of the season.
Document-Guy-2023
if furia or pain dont top this tournament man the major is a fluke

If only M80 didn’t troll the first half of the year, they could’ve had a chance to be here. Oh well
Rooting for all these chinese teams, hopefully one of them can make top 4, especially Lynn Vision given their run in the major. Hopefully COL don’t troll here too. im curious to see if Wildcard add peeping otherwise idgaf about them

Always the same 4-5 tier 2 teams, who despite bad results somehow keep their spot
redz1515m
Thats actually a very nice list and lots of teams who could win this. Furria, Pain, COL, GL, Astralis and Virtus Pro all have a realistic shot at winning and mega boosting their VRS points.

sad that legacy missed out on this invite cause they’ve shown a lot of promise to me

Solid lineup for an event before Cologne. I’ll be watching some games.
The best part is that I can see at least 5 teams here with a good chance to win the championship.

Good chance for Chinese CS to show that their scene is improving quickly and that the major wasn’t just a fluke

Heroic has a team?
super_shogun
I’m genuinely more excited for this tournament than I am for the S-tier events of next season. So many of these teams are likely looking to replicate or improve upon their major runs, plus all the new roster moves (I’m hoping Heroic are able to complete the rumored gr1ks signing prior to this).
It’s also nice to finally have a tournament where there isn’t an obvious front runner leagues ahead of the rest of the group.

these tourney are actually fresh with all these new teams

Astralis is back!

This field of play allows for a lot of exciting matchups and score lines we usually wouldn’t see in a S tier event. Looking forward to it after the ‘break’
