I used to dream of owning this baby 23 years ago. Life moved on, I was able to afford nice GPUs down the line but I never forgot “the one that got away”. It makes me so happy that I now have what my younger self wanted so desperately!

Why is the GPU of your dreams the 9500 pro and not the 9700 pro though?

Unfortunately mine couldn’t be OC’d to the 9700 level.

Radeon 8500 was the first GPU I ever bought. Loved that card.

I had a 9800 Pro in a P4 2.8D build long ago. Fond memories of the build. Antec P160 case with 430W PSU. Hauppauge capture card. Was gaming and also running DVR software “Beyond TV” which an IR blaster and shoutcast video streaming. I had this setup about a month before slingbox was released.

9700 Pro was fucking wicked. Doom 3, Half Life 2, Unreal Tournament 04, ect. Console Xbox and PS2 had bangers that year too, was amazing.

04 was kicksss, I built my rig then in the summer prior to fall release.

I had the Radeon 9550, I remember playing Farcry 1 on it back in the day. The water was beautiful.

I remember playing Colin McRei Rally 2005, on Card 9550

  16. Wow! Congratulations. Didn’t know other people also bought their dream cards later on.

I’ve always wanted an Nvidia GTX Titan 🥹 Still can’t afford it.

I had a PowerColor 9800SE. With that generation, they had such a demand for the SE, they were binning 9800 Pros as SEs. There the legit SEs had issues with full unlock, so they would lock some of the pipelines behind firmware to slow it down. There was a good chance you got a 9800 PRO binned as an SE so they could fill demand. All you had to do was firmware flash it to unlock the additional pipelines and get a full 9800 PRO for an SE price…I was one of the lucky ones and softmodded my 9800SE to a 9800PRO. Those were the days.

Very nice. I still have my 9800Pro around my place somewhere.

I remember buying this to play Medal of Honor: Allied Assault

  20. I’ve always wanted radeon HD 7990, but people want ezoteric amount of money for it on ebay and it’s nowhere to be found in used marketplaces since it’s 12 years old and enthusiasist class nobody got.

  21. Nice, I always wanted the All-in-Wonder Radeon 9700 but was stuck with the 7500 version and unable to play anything that required pixel shaders and Doom 3 literally ran in the SPF range (slower than 1FPS) without the Voodoo patch (full bright textures and lighting disabled).

I was thinking about buying one but instead found a new AIW X1900 and got that instead.

I remember there was a lot of hype over flashing the bios of these, unlocking the pipelines making it partially equivalent to a 9700

  23. Rrrrockstarrrr

You can unlock it into 9700 🙂

  24. PreviousAssistant367

You must have made a mistake, that card was nothing special back then.
