Just picked this up. I’ve never read it but thought it’d make an amazing compliment to a first-run

Funny, i have just started reading it as well

  2. *The sky above the port was the color of television tuned to a dead channel…* <3

  3. This is the first book I have ever read that I literally couldn’t put down. I started reading it at 8am at university. I missed all my lectures that day.

Check out Waste Tide, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep, and Johnny Mnemonic are all cyberpunk as well and pretty interesting. Enjoy Neuromancer!

Gibson considered to be one of the founding fathers od the ganra

Amazing book. Mindblowing. “Gibson didn’t predict the future, he created the future”.

I mostly listen to audiobooks, and unfortunately the audiobook I got of this one was really poorly done.

I’m gonna have to find another version, because I’ve heard nothing but good things about this.

  8. I hate to admit that I cant seem to finish that book. Tried twice, and something about his prose just melts my brain in certain moments, and I can’t seem to stick with it. The characters and the world are all super interesting, which frustrates me….i just can’t seem to get it to “click”.

    First Read: enjoy the ride.
Second Read: the story will make sense.
Third read: Oh, that’s why they needed him on the team.

I read this when I had a fever in 8th grade, home sick for a few days, don’t know what day started or finished. I only remember it being 4am reading this in a state no drug has easily competed with.

  11. Read it cover to cover before Cyberpunk came out. One of my favorite novels. I have the other 2 but, trying to sit still and read is hard for my ADHD brain. Comics and Audiobooks are way easier for me.

Read this last year and could not put it down. Trying to get through(the sequel?) Count Zero now.

Incredible short book I absolutely love it.
Suits the setting fantastically and will show you perfectly just how fucked the cyberpunk genre is.

  14. Da_Bloody-Niner

Fantastic book, and series as well. If you enjoy it definitely check out Count Zero, Mona Lisa Overdrive, and Burning Chrome

I first read Neuromancer about 30 years ago as a young teen, and I have been a massive fan of the entire genre ever since. I’m kind of jealous you get to experience it for the first time! One thing I think you’ll notice right away is that Cyberpunk 2077 takes a lot from Neuromancer. Not in a bad way, and since Neuromancer is one of the first Cyberpunk books ever written Gibson essentially created most of the tropes we still see. But there are a lot of parallels, from rogue AI to flatline constructs to heists.

Enjoy the book! I hope you love it.

Also snow crash especially if you are doing a blade build

Nice I picked that up a few years ago, I’ve also never read it but I can confirm, it looks great in my coffee table while I play cyberpunk

  18. NamesSUCK

As a huge Gibson fan, I highly recommend the peripheral next

  19. Designer-Strength7

Read the second and third part of these books, too: „Count Zero“ and „Mona Lisa Overdrive“. Checkout the new books: „Peripherie“ and „Agency“

Netflix just cancels shit. And it’s just stupid imho. And it’s a good thing Prime didn’t get it either. They screwed up The Wheel of Time. And I really REALLY wanted to like The Rings of Power. But nope.

  21. slapjack7

If I’m not mistaken, this is the origin point for Night City, isn’t it?

Read the whole trilogy in the past 3 weeks, finished Mona Lisa Overdrive yesterday. Great read, and you’ll find a lot of interesting names and concepts that make it into other media – such as Cyberpunk 2077 ;). Enjoy!
