there so dam handy once again with motherboard’s costing hundreds of dollars you think they still have them built in but even having Dbug leds is a feature now.

What is it for?
Potential-Bet-1111
Yes, if there are even pins for it.
Golden-Grenadier
I don’t know what I’d do without the post beep, especially for the headless machines that I run.
axiomatic13
Only if there is no Port 80 display.
brtcha
monkey island 1 does not hit the same without the faux polytone sound blasting out of one of these

I would have in the build I finished last weekend, but I can’t find where I put my extras. They came in a pack of 5 last time I bought them, so I should have 4 laying around someplace, but who knows where the damn things are? I know where they *were* before I moved last year, but that doesn’t help me any.
The new MB has an error code display so it’s not as important as it used to be.
DJFulcrum
Yes, it is useful for troubleshooting. I have a bunch from years of collecting.
Jrocktech
I don’t install them but I do keep them to use when trouble arises.
954kevin
I’ve got a small mountain of these just chillin, waiting for new builds.

People usually call this a buzzer.
I always install the buzzer and even have some spare around. Peace of mind when you heard a single beep upon turning on the PC or a heart attack when it goes BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP.
jim_forest
never done it. only those old hardwired built in ones that you didn’t have a choice. been building since 1996.
Prodding_The_Line
I used to on modern boards but then I realized that sometimes I wanna turn on my computer without the wife knowing late at night. Not that she cares but subconsciously I don’t want her to know my every move. I’ll take any win I can get 😜
t40r
Nope… most of my boards have it installed somewhere but I ALWAYS turn it off in the bios. I CANNOT stand those beeps lol. I rely on the debug panel
fluffysnowcap
That’s the single best bit of hardware you can have
HotTrash911
Beep boop gang!!!
MothyReddit
gotta have the beep
AshuraBaron
Why wouldn’t you? POST beep shows the PC is running okay and if it has any issues it will give you the beep code to resolve it.
I’ve put one in every rig I have ever built. They’re dirt cheap and the beep is comforting to me.
gblansten
Hell yes. Have one on my 11-2024 build.
BecauseIDidntCare
I did it for the lolz
MinhNguyen1404
I literally bought a bag of 30 buzzers just in case here hehe, totally useful and cheap
Marke522
Built a new pc about a year ago, was upset that I didn’t have one of these with my board. Thought about getting one and completely forgot until just now.
Thanks for reminding me.
AlfaPro1337

RAMChYLD

As someone from the late 1900s, I remember these speakers coming with the case, not the motherboard
