Season 3 for Street Fighter 6 was recently revealed. Sagat, C. Viper, Alex and Ingrid will be joining summer 2025, fall 2025, early spring 2026 and late spring 2026 respectively.
While many fans are celebrating the announcement the announcements for Sagat, C. Viper and Alex, the response to Ingrid could best be described as being mixed. It turns out, a lot of Street Fighter fans hate Ingrid. Jmcrofts has attempted to shed some light on the situation in a recent video upload.
First off, it’s worth pointing out that Ingrid made her debut appearance in Capcom Fighting Evolution, a game that is generally pretty despised by Capcom fans. Of course, Ingrid was also set to be part of “Capcom Fighting All-Stars,” but that title ended up getting canceled.
Regardless, Ingrid is generally seen as being a fairly weak character within Capcom Fighting Evolution. Overall, she just has a very bizarre toolkit that just didn’t function particularly well.
For one, she has a projectile, but it doesn’t really control horizontal space very well due to the angles in which she throws them towards. The version that behaves most similar to a traditional projectile doesn’t travel very far and can even be ducked under by a lot of characters in the game.
She also has a counter type move that can actually grant her a combo with a successful read. However, this is a fairly high risk move to just put out there, so it doesn’t really make for a particularly strong gameplan.
Additionally, her past is mostly shrouded in mystery. Jmcrofts also emphasizes how she just feels a little “too powerful” as a Street Fighter character.
In many ways, it feels like she belongs in King of Fighters more so than Street Fighter. Of course, this feels like a fairly moot point now considering how Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui joined Street Fighter 6 in Season 2.
