He died before you even left the vicinity of Arasaka Tower lol

It amazes me people can play the game and know so little about the game…

Eh, I mean, Jackie was bleeding out. Even if they HAD gotten to a Ripper, it was likely he would’ve died on the operating table. Dude was pale as fuck, lost a ton of blood. But even more than that, Jackie *has* to die. V needs more motivation than just ‘I want to be the best in Night City!’ And Jackie’s death is that motivation. Because it facilitates Johnny entering into the story. I *guess* they could’ve had Jackie live, but even then, Jackie would be the one with the chip- it’d just make the story impersonal.
All that to say, typically Cyberpunk- the sub-genre, not just Pondsmith’s TTRPG’s/video game universe- is known for being tragic. For killing off main characters. They give you just enough time to get used to Jackie, to have him feel like a staple character in the game. Only to rip him away. Yes, his death hits way less hard on repeat playthroughs. But that’s to be expected. But that first run of the game? Is fuckin’ wild. Jackie’s flatlined, then you arrive in the motel and *boom,* you’re flatlined too, shot and betrayed by Dex. Then it hits you with the title drop, swap to Johnny, and death fake-out.

Dude Jackie wouldn’t have made the drive towards the ripperdoc even if Del said yes, not even 20 seconds after you yell Del to “Take us to a ripperdoc, NOW!” Jackie is already saying goodbye and dies staring at your face.
Stevphfeniey
Taking Jackie to the ripper is arguably the worst ending for him
ZarieRose
You can send him to a ripperdoc, did you forget Viktor was one of the options?
Rxbyxo
Del takes Jackie wherever you tell him to.
If you tell him to take him to Viktor, Viktor tells V that Arasaka grabbed him.
It’s not Dels fault.
KataraMan
Or, “destroying Del’s core due to low stats”. But sure, I did it for revenge, yeah!
Rampage_Effect
I freed del so he could live his life as a sentient Ai. Not his fault Jackie bled to death before we left. I even went and told mama Jackie, and misty. They reconciled and it was beautiful. I had del take Jackie to his family as well. That’s the only right answer. Del did you a favor and you give him a favor back
viperfangs92
He does if you tell him to. He takes him to the best Ripperdoc in the city.
Sapphirei_OF
Jackie suffers a worse fate if you take him to a ripper
shewy92
Except you can send Jackie to Vik. So you only have yourself to blame.
slimricc
Lets not forget that jacky inserted the biochip, and then removed it, he dies basically the second he removes it. He had no survival scenario, except for maybe keeping the chip
Nickanator8
Wait, you can destroy Del’s core?
CoolioDurulio
Personally if he gets to have free will everywhere else but the time he can save your friend he says “rules are rules” and doesn’t have an emergency NDA that quadruples the price in exchange for control over the car and it’s up to me I don’t think he should have free will period. I know if it were a human can drive they’d at minimum get a black eye.
MaskedMan8
But you literally can have him do that though. Trash and low effort meme
1800plzhlp
he also absolutely does its just as soon as del drops them off the body is picked up by Arasaka
Dveralazo
Conveniently forgetting that he learned from that and decided to take you to Vik’s clinic without demanding payment first.
