I showed this video to Best Buy since last time I didn’t have proof and they accused me of lying about the Cyberpunk game. I bought a 2nd game at the same time as the cyberpunk game that I hadn’t opened yet and I’m so glad I recorded it this time.
A lot of people thought I was lying for attention so I was able to prove my innocence this time. Especially my employers at Best Buy who even thought I was lying for a free return too. With this, they checked the rest of the stock and found another like this in the Mario Kart World copy. Stay safe y’all.

It’s amazing that someone would go as far as taking the gamekey card but leave a poorly printed download code.
Hkydoc
I’m glad you got your justice here. It sucks that their first reaction was to doubt you. I wonder if this is going to turn out to be an isolated incident or part of a larger scam.
pagusas
At this point I’d open any games you buy right there at the register.
BearChowski
Most games I ever bought came with sticker sealing the sides after taking the wrapping off.
Jadzia-Daxx
this is infuriating and super weird for Best Buy to have screwed up.
Sharpz93
So googly eyes a couple months ago and now nothing inside your brand new game…
zach661
With this evidence, what happened at the end with the Cyberpunk copy. Did they give you another?
Tarushdei
Glad there’s was justice.

This been a thing for at least 15 years. I remember buying mw3 when it came out in Walmart and just getting a blank disc.

Please say that you presented this to the person reviewing you at Geek Squad, regarding the Assistant Manager that accused you of lying/threatened your job.

Nah jk, but yeah screw this Switch download code stuff
TITANS4LIFE
Just open it in the store at the point you know 0 people to hold the camera for you.
obiwanCannoli69
It’s crazy weird too because alot of the charm that comes with Nintendo games *is* the cartridge. I’d be pissed
Digital_Pharmacist
Which Best Buy location did you get the original Cyberpunk from ?
Also….did you notice that the code that was in the box had a QR code that lead you to Wikipedia ? 🤔
PoPo573
I’ve looked it up and most games at Best Buy say “Digital code in box only”. Like what? Why can they do this for physical games?
isenpaikai
65gb cartridges and some games chose not to do physical cartridges
aethermath87
That sucks big balls, seriously! 😐
My first hypothesis is a batch of games were opened by an employee who’s pretty scummy and they redid all the packaging with fake download codes, cause even a game key card would come with a cartridge, just like Cyberpunk. It looks like it was planned before release. The only solution now is to check all the games one by one to make sure there are not more of these scams.
My other hypothesis is that something happened to a batch from the delivery truck, cause maybe a box was swapped with another during delivery and the real games are sold on eBay now. This would be more likely. It’s easy to swap an unassuming box for another, especially if the shipping label look legit. I work in logistics and this kind of shit happens with mistakes so an intentional heist is also possible.
erov
People really are in the comments, not understanding that it was supposed to have a cartridge in it, but it was missing along with fake download codes… whoosh.
GenderJuicy
You get your money back?
McEndee
I worked retail, and we had a wrapping machine in the back. That is definitely not manufacturing wrapping, which typically looks like the back of an envelope in the corners.
ahnariprellik
You can tell by the plastic its fake. Legit games are factory sealed a very specific way with the corners folded jist so at each corner od the case so you can easily peel of the plastic if yiur fingernail is long enough
Levi_Skardsen
New and sealed PlayStation games have a holographic tab thingy that you peel off to open it. Do Switch games not have this?
ATRAINexpress
Yeah fuck that store bro. I’m not a big fan of GameStop but at least they gave me what I bought. Shit go to Wally World at this point and get what you need because that Best Buy you shop at has clearly been compromised.

Had something similar happen to me a few years ago bought god of war ragnarok for ps5 from Game it was Xmas eve eve got home opened it and no game inside. Went back a few weeks later, luckily the staff were decent people, as first they questioned why it took so long to return, I explained I was away for Xmas, first they checked to see if they had an excess of stock, as they should of as a disc wasn’t in mine, but they didn’t, the cashier said I can’t put it through the system and give you a new one as it will look dodgy for me being a disk down. But I can give you one from the second hand stock and log it as damaged and thrown. My whole story sounded dodgy but thankfully they believed me.
GoldenGekko
I would just start asking for managers. Don’t let some floor employee stop you. A manager is going to want to know about stock being stolen before being sold to customers.
Two games without the CD key in it? Or game key or whatever Nintendo is calling it? From the midnight release? That’s incredibly concerning.
Good chance they may have an employee or two that needs to be terminated. Just ask for the managers
Senior_Torte519
“So the question needing asking them, if its a digital code, did they need to waste the resources to make the plastic for an empty container?
odoggin012
This seems like it could be a number of things.
Someone at a Best buy distribution center.
Or straight from whoever is making these games.
I promise you, as someone that works at a Best buy, no one in the actual retail store could have the time or even privacy to be able to do this. This isn’t on a store level, some big distribution center is doing this
CosmeticTroll
I feel sorry you have to not only deal with this but people accusing you of lying in the comments with their only evidence being how they perceive the situation to be and the unlikeliness.
KrAEGNET
Does switch games outer wrap not come
In folded cellophane like PS or XBox games do? Or they typically shrink wrapped?
Its_Syxx
This is just more proof this shit is fake. Now other games? It’s not hard to shrink wrap, you can do it with a hairdryer..
Unreal people believe this.
You don’t think the store would be getting countless other people coming back? But some how it’s just him having it happen to him and the store thinks he’s scamming.. Ooooook
ItsCorbob
At this point I think there could be very easily a lawsuit at hand. Clearly these have been tampered with and instead of the store opening an investigation on whatever the hell is happening, instead they are accusing you of trying to steal from them.
If they don’t want to cooperate, you are being scammed. And the fact that they’re blackmailing you saying your position may be terminated if you try to push this any further I would argue is discrimination.
elracing21
This is an inside job from an employee. BestBuy has the little machine that wraps games to make it perfect. Someone in the store is opening up the games taking the carts out and resealing them.
Its not the first time I’ve heard of this as an ex employee.
