I`m really curious how it`s possible, what type of grip you have on te mouse, i have claw and other than some dirt on the point where i grip it nothing like this ever happened to me

Whats the mouse so we know not to buy it.

What brand is that mouse? I have used many in my time and I have never had that happen, if this is some tree fiddy ali express shit, you get what you paid for.

Showing some text underneath tells me this is a retro fit grip tape. When the surface isn’t cleaned/degreased properly, the tape will shift when heated by your fingers and forces applied to it while gaming. Get some quality grip tape.

Cheap materials are damaged by our sweat. I think grease attacks rubber and it destroys its structure

It’s a compromise, just like with tires. The more sticky and comfortable it is, the quicker it wears down, and specially if you have a more claw grip or longer nails, the more likely it will wear unevenly.
Logitech generally uses more hard plastic with a texture, to give the impression of grip, but they’re still covered in a thin layer of rubber, and use a plasticised rubber for the grips, so it will wear down.
If you want a mouse that doesn’t wear unevenly, you want one that’s basically just purely plastic, like a keyboard. The simpler razor ones are like this, and many steelseries one use a similar principal to Logitech of hard plastic with a rubberised coating, so they will wear through in those spots, but will remain the same shape.

You added a grip tape to your mouse for better grip. That is clear from the tape being placed over the text on the side of the mouse. I also have some aftermarket tapes I use and, they usually last about a year or so. Wear is expected, it’s normal on soft materials. The oils in your skin bleeds into it slowly over time and causes a reaction, the friction from your skin causes a “sandpaper” effect which, when combined with the oils, causes a slow but steady smoother surface. This isn’t a bad product, it’s just something that happens.
If you’ve ever owned a games console, you’ll know those joysticks wear down pretty quick. You’ll also know that matte finish plastics when held regularly will eventually shine brightly where the hands make contact.
The best way you can alleviate the issue is to replace the tape with a higher quality one and, don’t eat food and touch your mouse. Wash your hands more regularly and of course, wipe your mouse down with a damp (almost dry) cloth – it’ll help remove anything on the surface and give you a grippy feel again.

You said you manually added the pads yourself
How much did they cost?

Do you sweat a lot?

Honestly, I now hate grips in mice.
I have sweaty hands and these grips wear out horribly and unfixable. You have to replace them even before the internal hardware fails.

Those are meant to be temporal and user replaceable.

I thought they figured out that not using rubber on things that spend all day in your hand was a good thing with the G700s, it just had a nice, hard wearing, grippy, textured surface… but then they forgot and went back to your average everyday product derpsigners.
With the G700s design it felt like we were one step away from mice where the screws weren’t covered by the skids, alas that was the high point and we have since regressed.

What’s the point of the “optional grip tape”? Is that really your question?
I guess if it only lasted a couple of weeks I understand your annoyance but if it’s a month or two then it sounds about right. It’s just tape.
I can’t share your despair, my mouse is about three years old, and although the side cover collects dirt quite easily in these “holes”, at the same time it is possible that thanks to them – the cover still looks like new, I only clean it with a toothbrush once every 2-3 weeks
I should also note that the mouse is used for more than 8 hours a day, not including games after work)

Been using hard almost every day my aftermarket corepad grips for a litte over year now and they havent slipped or moved at all. The texture on them is also still very good.

I have an mx-518 i bought in 2005 that is still my only mouse and it has less wear and 10s of thousands of hours and click, it survived the cookie clicker era.
Still the most comfortable and robust mouse I’ve used so i have 3 just in case.

Logitechs rubber and switches are shit. I love the G604 but the rubber on that thing started to come off in about a year. It’s also close to impossible to replace the switches, which starts bouncing within a couple of years.

Do you use regular Lotions or desinfectant for your hands?

Use some quality ones instead the cheapest you can find, you get what you buy, I’ve got my replacement pads almost 2 years ago after the original got fucked up and they’re still fine, could easily go a few more years with them

oh yeah i used to have this problem too with Razer and Logitech, espescially any mouse that pre 2024, their brand is notoriously using cheap ass skins material

My mouse uses grip tape. Now I know why.

Right? Planned obsolescence should be illegal.

Welcome to Logitech and most other brands, it is not about quality, that was maybe 15 years ago if not more…

I swear they add it not for grip, but to guarantee that the mouse degrades after a short time forcing you to buy another one.

I bought a sheet of a precut grip tape for my $40 chinese gaming mouse that only costs $3.5 with shipping included 4 years ago, and it still holds up well.
I live in a climate with 28 celsius degrees room temperature and average of 80% humidity.
And mine looks thicker than OP’s rubber tape or whatever is that.

The point is to wear down within months, so you buy a new mouse.

The pads that come with my Razer mousr are still looking like day 1 after a year of heavy use.
