$130 to get "additional content" that should be included in the already outrageous $70 base price? Are you kidding me? Why do people keep letting this happen? Who is even paying this much? I love Borderlands but refuse to sell my organs in order to play the latest installment.

Been that way for a long time sadly.

A lot of times me trying to figure out which version to buy results in me not buying any version and moving on. The latest example is Hitman.

In my life, I’ve never bought any kind of deluxe edition. I’ve never felt like I missed anything. It’s all just extra, unnecessary stuff at an outrageous price. Just don’t buy it.

At this price point you used to get physical items included

I looked it up to work out exactly what these separate editions are. They’re essentially DLCs. One for the more expensive edition. Two for the even more expensive edition. With cosmetic BS sprinkled in.

I’m fine with DLCs if they’re made after the game is released, because the game is popular and people want more content. I’ll buy them later if I really enjoyed the game.

I really detest what they’ve done here. They take the day zero game and carve chunks off it and sell you the extra chunks at inflated prices.

This has been happening since the first Xbox came out. Every single Borderlands games has had multiple editions. Where have you been? Don’t want the additional content, don’t buy. Simple as that. Want to whine about it on the internet? Mission accomplished.

    Bro where have you been?!

Borderlands DLC has been paid content since DAY 1 with the initial release of borderlands on console

Bruh where the hell have you been 😅😂🤣

When borderlands 2 released in 2012 it was $60 for standard, $100 for deluxe, and $150 for ultimate loot chest editions. The caveat here is that the $150 edition came with physical items. Borderlands 1 had the base game at $60 with paid DLC at $10 each for the 4 of them. So at least 2012 for this franchise in particular.

It start and end with you.

Nobody is forcing your hand to buy. Vote with your wallet here, but also everywhere.

Out of the gate: “Acceptable” is something we each determine for ourselves. If the value proposition isn’t there for you, don’t buy it. That’s what we all do.

But I think there’s an underlying assumption here that if something was slightly different then everything in the Super Deluxe Edition would be available in the base game. That’s a wrong assumption.

If they couldn’t charge extra for the content, the content wouldn’t exist. Capitalism and the market means there’s no world where you get the Super Deluxe stuff for $70. The only alternate world is the one where you get the base game for $70 and the extra content never gets developed.

“Should be included in the game” is a myth. If we make microtransactions and DLC illegal tomorrow, it’s not the case that the base game will include the Super Deluxe content. The result is that the base game is the only version that exists, and the Super Deluxe content never happens.

If you’re going to have to sell your organs to afford any of those, you’ve got much bigger concerns. Namely your income and the evidently poor condition of your organs.

I remember when I pre-ordered MGSV on PC, it was 60$ to have The Phantom Pain, Ground Zeroes, some good staff members from the beginning…

You could always do what I do and forget about this game for 2 years until it’s 19.99 on sale and then just play it then

  14. gumpythegreat

It’s never been acceptable. Or it’s always been acceptable.

Because it’s been happening for decades, and some people have been complaining for decades, and others have been paying for it for decades

  15. alanbdee

I’m not worried. I’ll get my super deluxe edition for $60 or less. Might have to wait a bit but I can do that.

  16. wisdomelf

Bcs someone buy it? Dont want to support it? Don’t buy.
    And never pre-order

  17. Deluxe editions over $100 have been a thing for decades. Like since 2000s at least.

Though, it used to be that you got cool physical stuff with it, now it’s just DLC and cosmetics and shit which is definitely lamer.

I don’t think it’s that crazy, borderlands 2 for instance, $60 base game

4 dlcs at $10 a piece brings us to 100

each extra character was $10, so $120

now buying the game of the year/season pass was cheaper at $30 upgrade

which this is the same thing $30 upgrade for for the dlcs

The characters are slightly more expensive at $15 a pop

  19. baldurhop

support indy developers. The games are much cheaper and about 100 times better.

  20. It became acceptable when people decided to keep paying for it. The genie is out of the bottle now, and it’s only going to get worse.

  21. LinguaTechnica

It became acceptable when morons kept throwing their wallets at their screens screaming “TAKE MY MONEY!”

  22. Keyser_Kaiser_Soze

    Say it again; “NO Preorder”

  23. candle340

You’re about ten to fifteen years late, bud. This has been standard for a while
