I agree that we need to look forward and past some of the generic ideas. I think witcher 3 did a good job at making things memorable, so I trust them.

Nothing turns me off from a game where you’re supposed to be an all-powerful warrior/politician/Demigod, and all the quest givers keep treating you like an intern. *Looks at Skyrim*

It depresses me slightly that in the 10 years since Witcher 3, most side quests are still garbage. Glad to see CD Project Red are not giving up on well written side quests yet.

Witcher 3: fetch quest the game
DarkKiNg2011
I think cdpr are the last company that can pull larian like quotes out of nowhere, I love the witcher 3 but you got to admit it was pretty repetitive in certain areas.
And don’t get me started on cyberpunk, 90% of the gigs were fetch quests.

Honestly, if I wanted to run errands, I’d just do my real job, not game for it.

Witcher3 had a lots of meaningful branching questlines, and even the standalone side quests had top notch story, world building and value to them. That’s what we want. Some fetch quests are fine tho for gaming purposes but we must be better now, gaming is no more gaming lol
Metal_is_Perfection
So it will have fetch quests.

I think fetch quests are fine, but only in the early stages of a game when you’re just learning the mechanics, or if it makes sense to the plot. It would definitely wreak havoc on competionists, like me, but it would be cool to see quests close off to you after a certain point. Doing fetch quests as the archmage of the magic guild seems pretty unreasonable.
PhatShadow
As long as the fetching is fun and not annoying I’m ok with it lol. Don’t get me started on quests given early game asking for some resources you get late game so it just sits in your quest menu forever.

I just don’t want skellige 2.0 with all that questions mark

In oblivion, the dark brotherhood was the best most unique quests I ever played in a video game

Bad game. We can’t even fetch dogs….

Yeah games where it’s “Go here, get this, come back” are annoying. Tell a story. I’m not supposed to be some errand doer. Games like that feel like they never progress, it’s what turns me off from the new AC games.
Zactrick
Great just release it finished though.

So they realised they ruined what could have been an amazing game in TW3 with those stupid, pointless open world fetch quests? About time.

Fetch quests are fine, as long as its a fucking adventure.
but 95% of them are just
Go here
Pick up this
Come back
THANK YOU HERO!

I really really hope they do away with question markers on the map and let you actually find things for yourself and not make repetitive monster nests part of completing the game

Most of the time fetch quest are optional content that either unlocks lore or materials for weapons etc. Might be just me but sometimes I like something idyllic outside of main content.

Death Stranding is pretty much 100% fetch quests and they make it interesting because the world building is so good as well as the story. Expedition 33 has almost no fetch quests as well so it’s possible to have a semi-open world without the fetch quests, there would just need to be more of a focus on other game mechanics like monster hunting and Gwent.
Fetch quests can be a good way to prompt the player to explore a new part of the world. But if I’m doing a bunch of fetch quests at the end of the game when I’ve already explored everything than it’s probably going to feel tedious and boring.

Weird because the main quest in Witcher 3 was a fetch quest. Go fetch Citi.
