In between builds I had to use a small office mobo with only a single fan connector and a bigger case so I had a fan blowing directly in the side and it worked.

Yes, that will work just fine.
Putting it up against the case and running it on its lowest setting should be all you need. Most PCs don’t put out that much wattage, they just tend to heat up because the heat gets trapped and builds up. With just the side open things are usually nearly as cool as they’re going to get.
But… is your PSU mounted with the fan down with the case sitting flush against that riser? Your PSU needs to get some air too. You should flip it around, or at least put something under the back of the case to lift it up for now.
Sure, I used to put one of those upright box fans pointed at my PC. Bit loud but obviously it works. Moves a lot more air than the smaller fans.
I’ve done this before, when pushing overclocked DDR5 RAM to the limit in the summertime. I later added heatsinks and now the RAM stays nice and cool, also using case’s internal fans instead of an external fan.

yes. my 3090 occasionally does some thermal throttling (I think i need to look at fan curves again) so I have been doing this as well for now.
download OpenHardwareMonitor to check the temps. youll see it helps
Should. I had a similar case in the past and I solved the problem by removing the dust filter on the front. Mine was very thick and not very porous similar to vacuum cleaners, so it was basically a wall.
Some time ago, many years ago, I had a PC that in the summer, if it was hot in the room, without such a “system” with a fan, turned off from overheating
Use to have a box fan stuffed up against my PC. Worked just fine lol.

Given that it’s your setup, you’re better equipped to answer that question than anyone. We should be asking *you* how much that cools off the PC, and you can answer by checking the temps.

That’s how I burned a pc, the force of the air thrown by the fan was forcing the gpu fan and it ended up burning.
It was a pretty old pc and so was the gpu but I guess that tells you something.
I would say move the fan away from the pc or set the speed to minimum and at a safe distance.
You have this because it’s an older case with tons of hdd slots that block the air entry. Just unmount that rack and add some front fans. In the meantime you’re ‘hack’ also works but will suck in all the surrounding dust

Yes it will. This fan will move more air than all the fans in your system. I have done that before and it cools quickly.

A decade or so ago I would game in a room with no ac in the summer. My PC would get hot AF – i did the same thing you are, but with a box fan. Got me through the summer that year.

yes. any amount of cooling helps. unless the air you’re blowing in is hotter(electrical cabinets where I work get the blowjob setup for when we have ongoing operations. EVERYTHING gets just a tad warm 😅
Don’t ask reddit. Use some critical thinking and find out yourself. You can find the programs you need to measure the temperature and stress test the system in a couple seconds on google.

To wow Classic my pc always got hot in the summer and nothing worked anymore, I did it EXACTLY THAT way, it worked wonderfully and those were the best summer holidays I had as a child 😅
