Games these days depreciate hella quick. It will be 30-50% off in 3 months or on game pass in 5.

the outer world 2 looks good. but the 80 price tag just gives it bad pr.

I really like obsidian and their passion. I really hoped that they would shine more under Microsoft and that they might make the next fallout game even.
But Avowed got massacred by Microsoft. They had to scrap 2 years of progress and make a new story driven game. Avowed is still a good game, don’t get me wrong, but imagine what an even more fleshed out version of it could have been. They were working on the game as an open world coop game with emphasis on looting apparently which could be a fun concept depending on the execution.
I am really looking forward to outer worlds 2 and hope the delay let them polish the game nicely!

Well yeah, it’s Xbox, all of their recent AAA games are now 70 or more and one of their reasons is to keep pushing game pass subscriptions

The price increase did seem a little dissonant after Obsidian’s CEO specifically said the studio isn’t developing AAA experiences. But it’s not unusual for the publisher to set the game price and since they don’t self publish, this isn’t exactly a shocking revelation.

Who is actually willing to pay $80 for this game?

See you in 2026 with 60% off.

I’ve been saying this since the news broke, but people couldn’t hear me through the rabid barking.

This series never had a true shot, the underwhelming first game had the hype of being made by the “creators of Fallout” and it was average at best, that kill it. Now at 80 bucks, no one in their right mind are going to pay that price, at best they are going to play on Game Pass (honestly have no idea if this is “day 1” or not). And it’s ironic, the real Fallout creators kinda fluked, then we had Howard being highlighted in the Fallout TV show as if he created anything, lol what a mess, hope Obsidian releases Fallout 5 as a proper crpg with tons of budget, that’s the most hopeful scenario for the IP in my pov

The problem isn’t who did or didn’t set the price at $80. The problem people have is that the price is set at $80.

Outer Worlds 1 was meh at best. Why would I pay new AAA price for 2? Let those clowns stew.
jindrix
no, we know nintendo does.

Imagine if after all of this $80 game nonsense that rockstar ends up releasing GTA6 at $60. They would be considered heroes.

Avowed failed. Outer Worlds was decent but had nowhere near the amount of content in a typucal Bethesda rpg, which does not warrant an inflated price. They are setting this game up to fail miserably.
I look forward to picking it up for $5, 6 months after release.

Confused why it is a thing.
Nobody is forcing people to buy a game.
Its also not a necessity, like, say eggs.
If nobody is buying the game it will have an effect on the market. Of course the idiots will first axe the game studio, but that is how people sadly think.

They have to absorb some of the costs from having Game Pass at the current price point. Enjoy that price while it lasts!
