Replaced Embracer CEO wins understatement of the year, says “the road has not always been straight” after billions burned, thousands of layoffs, dozens of games canceled, and multiple studios closed
Thought i post this as it really shows how bad AAA is when a company with major ip’s is broke now well in debt so too speak.
They sold off gearbox with ip’s last year so many are going crazy over the new borderlands game with 0 knowledge its being published by take 2 a ceo that needs micro-transactions in games so he can get a huge bonus.
I think we are returning to AA games instead of AAA games. We’ll have a few big players like GTA 6, Half Life 3, etc. which are acceptably up to $100. Other than that people will seek more value like Helldivers 2, Clair 33, and other games in the $40 to $50 range + some of the deluxe indies like Silksong and Deltarune.
The old ways of happily losing hundreds of millions on Concord level flops is not sustainable.

I will never forgive Embracer for effectively scrapping the Deus Ex franchise.
