Still do when trouble shooting weird graphical things

DxDiags to verify hardware in the system. It’s attached to bug reports.

Still do when I need to get my monitor’s display number. I need to do that every once in a blue moon for a game streaming related thing

Back in the ancient days of like 2021 I had to send dxdiag info to 343i for the Halo Infinite Technical Preview.

Whenever I send laptops to rma i do this to verify if they did any unwanted changes.

I had a bizarre Visiontek AGP HD 2600 Pro graphics card that only worked properly with the driver specifically provided on the Visiontek website. Any other driver, such as those provided on the ATI website, would fail to use the AGP bus and instead use PCI.

I was thankful to have DXDIAG which indicated the issue to me by having ‘AGP Hardware Acceleration’ greyed out.

I am now wondering how many years it’s been since I’ve even heard “dxdiag.” I had forgotten it existed.

Just did it the day before yesterday when showing the specs of a PC to a friend.

Still a good tool to check if directx components are fine..

  11. DxDiag is too nerdy and complicated, real ones used the Experience Score.

For me, as remote tech support, to get bios and other info.

Sometimes I forget what I have and it has all the info in one place that isn’t bloatware

For troubleshooting as it compiles a list of things that can be quickly checked off.
