I genuinely don’t understand the negativity surrounding this game right now, from the trailers it actually looks fun. (I haven’t read up much on the game itself other than the comments like in this post and it seems people are SUPER negative towards it for some reason)
I honestly don’t think the game looks bad at all. It looks like a low budget third person action game. Sometimes games like this scratch a specific itch just a fun mindless game.
It looks like it has some care put into it the animations and effects looks solid

The trailer was moderately cool but I don’t think any conclusions can be drawn other than ‘not my kind of genre’.

their gameplay is like from the early xbox 360 games. I hope they realize how boring it is and they have jokers like a deep plot and interesting characters
So since some people here are confused on why there is negativity around this game, it is probably because the CEO of Build a rocket boy (the Devs) said 2 weeks ago the the negative comments about this game are a paid effort. Also just a few days ago the Chief Financial Officer and the Chief Legal Officer both left the studio. This just does not bode well. The publisher seems to be in damage control mode now.
Wierdly enough, they never sent review copies to news outlets. Always a great sign

All they showed was running and driving. Which made people very sus, the world although looking great feels lifeless and hollow. Idk if it’s True but maybe this game is not open world at all which pushes me back even more because so many narrative opportunities missed. I didn’t find anything special per se.
Maybe it is a good run and gun game but we’ll see that post release.
We need to see the game launch before we can make an actual judgment. You can guess a game will be awesome or suck. You can guess how it will score. But the bell has not been rung yet.

So why no review copies? I am interested but not buying before reviews. Why no press other than what you have to do? Might as well wait for the inevitable gamepass appearance unless they pull a miracle and the game is really good but they needed to fix it till the last day.

My biggest thought every time I see anything for this game is how boring and uninspired the design for the main character is, and I feel like it sums up the entire game pretty well. I don’t even know how to explain it exactly but he just looks like the most generic action side character you can think of and I feel like I already know his story arc before the game is even out. I hate it lol
I was hyped but then I remembered about Cyberpunk and how that was a mess. I’ll wait for this to go on sale.

Gaming is one of the greatest platforms go collect feedback relatively cheap/easy (as opposed to say, bringing a new washing machine onto the market and wanting to know if people would enjoy it) yet those people always seem to take the hardest copium.
If anything the subreddit for the game is filled with either bots or shills trying to “hype” the game. One look at most of the accounts posting positive things tells you this lol.

This feels like a whole lot of projection from the devs. They paid a marketing team to make it look positive, yet that wasnt even enough to save them from the backlash. I think its also a showcase for their EVERYWHERE engine or whatever sandbox thing they’re trying to sell. i.e drag and drop assets and AI to make a level or game. That’s what makes it look so horribly bland.
I mean if that’s the case, it’s also weird that they price it like a full triple A title. The world building reminds me of the last Saints Row, just lots of wide open spaces with minimal detail.
