MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS, Ohio – The 48th annual Ohio Scottish Games & Celtic Festival is scheduled for this month.
The festival is Friday and Saturday, June 27-28, at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds in Middleburg Heights.
Demonstrations of jousting, falconry and Border Collies are scheduled. British cars will be on display along with genealogy, clan exhibits, workshops, Whiskey tasting and more than 50 food and merchandise vendors. New this year for children: Great Lakes National Puppet Theater. And musicians and dance groups will perform.
Highland Games will include athletics, kilted mile, haggis throw, pipe bands, highland dancers and more.
The fest will cover various eras.
The Renaissance period will be represented by the Barony of the Cleftlands, Cleveland’s Society for Creative Anachronism. The organization is dedicated to the research and re-creation of pre-17th century skills, arts, combat, culture and history knowledge.
The American Revolutionary War will be represented through a living history by the 42nd Highland Regiment of Foot.

Friday, June 27: Gates open at 4:45 p.m. Calling of the Clans torch lighting takes place at 9:45 p.m.
Saturday, June 28: Gates open at 8 a.m. for morning competitions. Grand Parade begins at noon. Twilight Tattoo will take place at 6 p.m. and include pipes and drums as well as performances by harp and fiddle and highland dancers.
Admission: Friday – $16.55 (adult), ($11.37, junior). Saturday – $21.72 (adult all day), $16.55 (junior all day and adult evening), $11.37 (junior evening).
