You can get a Xeon E3-1230 (original) for $8 shipped on ebay.

Could throw in an i7 3770 ivy bridge for about $20. That would help

Will FF16 or FF7 Rebirth boot up on a Sandy Bridge processor like the Core i5-2310?

If you want a really inexpensive upgrade to take the computer even further, Xeon chips on ebay with 4 cores / 8 threads that could be a drop-in replacement for your i5 can be had for like $10 shipped.

Doubled my Cinebench score for reap cheap and provides more future headroom.

I hope you got the 16 GB card instead of the 8

Do you have 4 processors???? How????

I have an I7 2600 sat on a shelf doing nothing. If you want it you can DM your address and i will stick it in the post. Also, how much ram do you have and what motherboard is it? (i ask as the motherboard will be limited to PCIE2.0 with sandybridge. I may have a Xeon V2 knocking around somewhere that, depending on the board would give you PCIE 3.0 as well as a speed boost)

That cpu is suffocating the gpu to death 😳

If your mobo supports 3rd gen, get yourself a 3570 or 3770(if there are any cheap ones in ur country). Cheap upgrade that will give you a dozen more FPS and way better 1% lows.

Dude. Do you want a new CPU? I have plenty of 3rd gen i5s on hand. Your motherboard should support it. Drop in upgrade.

    $25-30 will get you a i7 3770K.

That’s what I did for the PC I gifted my nephews. Still goes strong for what they want to play.

i had a bottlenecked pc, i5 10400f rtx 4060 at 1080p, and it was such a horrible experience of low fps and stutter-fest that when i built my new one, i went all out with the CPU and cheaped out on the GPU. no regrets, averaging stutter-free 150-200fps from indies to triple A’s.
