The price of the console is pretty fair actually. It’s the cost of games and well Nintendo being Nintendo is the issue here.

When games cost 100€ Euros 50€ on the console is the last of problems
Turwel
how many games does the switch 2 have? How much does it cost? How often does nintendo offer sales on their games?
and last of all, are you this dense on purpose or is this bait?
DrKrFfXx
Technically, Steam Deck is much, much cheaper in the long run due to game prices, and overall functionality.
S2 will remain a more polished experience for the average human tho.
EinfachNurMarc
The price of the switch 2 is fine, and I’ll get one as soon as they do a special edition I like. It’s the games that are criminally expensive.
Unnamed-3891
Hahaha, WHAT? Oh how I WISH Switch2 was 459,99€. It’s 569€.
Purple_Errand
The game prices are the problem. Nintendo barely do game sale
Tail_sb
The Switch 2 is not Overpriced Stop Saying this
But the Games definitely are & the Fact that you have to pay to use Voice Chat but the Console itself is not Overpriced

Hell, spend a little more and get the OLED steam deck. That’s my plan. Lol
A7madstev30Aw
People expected switch 2 to be 320$ or what ? 😂
Noob4Head
Call me crazy, but I really don’t think it’s “criminally expensive.” For the upgrades they did and for the device you’re receiving, the price is fine.

Switch does seem good according to the hardware.
Mostly due to DLSS. In contrast, most handhelds are only FSR3, which is far worse compared to DLSS.
When the FSR4 handheld comes around, it will change.
One thing in Switch 2, you don’t need to fiddle with game settings and look at the FPS. You just play games.
But games are super expensive. Not to mention, you need to subscribe to play online games.
We still need to wait for the Digital Foundry review on switch 2 on cross platform game to assess its capabilities.

Don’t care, I have Both of them haha

The SD has worse screen (lower res and refresh rate), worse wifi (5 vs 6), heavier, and slower memory (emmc vs express), its not a bad device by any means, buts its not better than a switch 2. I would expect the OLED model of switch 2 to also be the same as the SD OLED at 550.

I thought my switch 2 was a good value!
And I don’t get pc gamers moaning about price.. consoles are cheaper. They perform better than similarly priced pcs.. and yet people still choose to play on pc.
Nobody buys a 5090 and cares about value.
Plus the steam deck, isn’t a great pc or even a great handheld. It’s saving grace is it’s cheap. that’s why it’s popular. Now that steam OS runs on other handhelds, it makes it vastly less compelling.

very few people are buying a switch 2 to play games avaliable on other consoles, its for:
The Legend of Zelda: botw/totk, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Super Smash Bros, Super Mario Odyssey, Pokemon, Splatoon etc
senortipton
My PC does that. I bought the Switch 2 because I like playing my favorite Nintendo games on release.

Deck doesn’t include the Dock tho… It is more expensive if you include it.

I’m PCMR but I don’t consider it expensive. I’ve bought a premium handheld that’s faster than a Steam Deck for over $1k. Got the kind of performance the switch 2 puts out it’s pretty good plus you get the extra polished first party releases that give you 1440p or 4K that the steam deck could never do.

Waiting for the OLED version

Meh, sold my ally but still have a switch. Will probably get a switch 2 at some point.
Fer_ESC
The Switch 2 literally has better specs.
At least make fun about the game pricing, ya know the actual problem and not some made up strawman like this

The good old apples and oranges comparison. I myself have a 5800x3d and 7900xtx which I also use to stream on my steam deck with, but I still use a switch for the exclusives. As do most people. There is a reason the switch has sold most units than all PC handhelds together. PC handhelds are great pieces of hardware but soooo niche and the true exlusives are RTS which is unfortunately a dying gerne and MOBAs which is the cancer of gaming.
Carinwe_Lysa
I don’t get where all the random drama is coming from both sides in this, lmao.
People buy the Switch mostly for Nintendo Exclusives, and people by the Deck for a handheld experience with their existing gaming library, they’re two completely different things.
Don’t understand why people don’t just let others spend their money how they like and be happy for them lol.

If all you want is to play Nintendo games, buying or building a pc with old components for like 300$ gives you a pc that can emulate all Nintendo games
