There are probably kits that make it a bit easier, but it was originally a torn down LCD display with a new control board.
If you search for ” pc side panel display” or “transparent lcd side panel” you can see instructions and videos explaining how.
I would imagine he has a few side panels. Screen technology like this is newish and transparent screens are not this minimalistic yet.
1. Old LCD monitor (preferably with HDMI, DVI, or VGA input)
2. Compatible LCD controller board
– Search online using your monitor’s panel model number (e.g. “LM215WF3 LCD controller board”)
3. HDMI cable (or other suitable video cable)
4. Power adapter for the controller board (usually 12V/2A or 12V/3A depending on the board)
5. Acrylic/glass/metal mounting frame (or reuse original LCD housing)
6. Double-sided tape, Velcro, or custom brackets to mount the screen inside the side panel
7. Software (optional, for display customization):
– AIDA64, Wallpaper Engine, Rainmeter, etc.
You can skip the DIY approach this case already has exactly what you want built in “İBUYPOWER Snowblind S 19″ Translucent Customizable Side-Panel LCD Display 1280 x 1024 Resolution Mid-Tower Desktop Computer Gaming Case” it’s priced at 200 dollars and it’s probably not a great case but I’m there’s other options if you look harder then I did.
Any modern non-Oled tv consists of a lcd panel, the thing that makes the colors, and an LED panel, the thing that lights up the colors. The two are separate units.
When an LCD panel shows white, it’s essentially just clearing those pixels of the panel. Meaning if you put distance between the LED panel and the LCD panel, you can see through the LCD panel.
If you disassemble a TV, you can separate the LCD panel. If you keep all the wiring, you can then provide images to the panel via HDMI. Then you just need to find a way to hide the boards and power supply in your case, affix the lcd panel to your glass panel. and put a shit ton of LEDs in your case to act as a backlight.
There’s probably a few YT tutorials on this
I doubt that its torn out of a normal screen or TV, LCD panels are usually very dark, like sunglasses dark. More transparent LCD panels like this are an emerging technology and are usually purpose built for stuff like this.
Now you can disassemble most LCD screens and take out the panel and use it with a compatible controller either supplied or bought for $20 off aliexpress pretty easily but as said, it will be dark and you’ll need very powerful lighting inside the case to see anything.
LCD panel sans the backlight.
That’s gonna look really cool when it’s on the tile floor in a million pieces
There’s a case that sells with a side panel that does this by default.
Her you go: https://www.ibuypower.com/gear-store/pc-parts/cases/ibuypower-snowblind-s-case?srsltid=AfmBOoq_Xqw24WQEUg7UYg_UxRmdzf2v_UFQ_zLnyI1lPvUvOPqLi-nT
They took the LCD out of a monitor and attached it to the inside of the panel.
I working on a similar project now.
So in over simpified terms: LCD monitorss are comprised of the LCD layer that changes the colour of the pixels, and a backlight behind that.
This mod involves taking the monitor apart and ditching basically everything other than the LCD layer itself.
The case and its internal lighting becomes the backlight.
I honestly thought that this was going to be the next evolution in PC cases when they first popped up years ago. Instead of the literal screens we get on fans and pumps
Its probably a pre built i know best buy was selling them for a while. But you should be able to buy the case by itself. You really need all white pc parts and a good amount of light as there is no backlight in the screen it just uses the light from in the case. Don’t remember who makes the case though.
Project Snowblind
Yes its real. Not anything insanely new. Ibuypower sells or atleast sold a case with this

time to flex muh case
there’s a shop on taobao selling these for like 150-300 depending on case. like others mentioned, its just a disassembled lcd panel with like the top layer removed and u need to use leds (needs to be very bright) inside the case to be the backlight for the panel.
theres a few tutorials on youtube, just search ‘transparent lcd side panel diy’ or something.
Youtube has several videos on how to do this.
You can tear apart and old lcd screen or buy a snowblind pc case.
Am I the only one who for about 10 seconds didn’t realize it was a sticker and thought somehow ink had spilled everywhere inside his PC…. I need a nap xD
Do you still have the protective film on the backplate of your proart gpu ???
There is a fucking ghost top left
Vagabond fan?
Just google “PC Case with monitor side panel”. It eats an HDMI spot, and this case specifically has notoriously bad airflow.
It’s just an LCD display. I doubt he tore the display out of a tv considering they’re usually too big and anyone with the expertise to do so without killing the whole screen already knows it’s a waste of effort
The old snowblind case
