Arena shooters are dated. Def time to retire a legend.

It was a really bad game. Sorry your project was a failure, but a bad game isn’t going to succeed here.

The netcode and failure to launch at an appropriate window killed this game. It was actually fun when the servers weren’t shitting the bed.

The problem here is the same problem the games that compete with Fortnite have. If you’re not gonna do it better then you’re not gonna succeed. A game that kind of plays like call of duty did in the early 2000s is not gonna be popular. Plus, if you add the technical debt to all of that, and it’s a recipe for disaster.

You cannot rival cod unless you implement the same aimbot level aim assist. The cod playbase is too groomed by the AA, any other shooter doesn’t have good enough ‘gunplay’ for them

Games was ass felt like a mobile game from 2013. Ubisoft needs to stop putting out slop.
CDL_Main
You made a game to rival COD that was essentially an Overwatch clone with Ubisoft characters and your major selling point against COD was that it didn’t have SBMM. No wonder it failed. Your first mistake was that you went to FUCKING UBISOFT.

Character design was dog shit, the gameplay loop was not smooth, the microtransactions were mid they changed nothing, it just wasn’t fun at all, the factions were also really weak it would of been better if it was something with Tom Clancy in it and it was a game with everything Tom Clancy into one shooter…

I played a few matches, i had one massive killstreak and never logged on again.

Lack of marketing is a very real issue. I haven’t even heard of this game until now.

He mentioned a big tech debt due to the engine (anvil or snowdrop i suppose) being inadequate
It’s not that its success was guaranteed but they really did not put chance on their side with the engine and marketing not helping

Probably the biggest issue has been the fact that this all went down as Ubisoft were collapsing and selling. Had this come out at a different time, maybe it would’ve been different. But it didn’t.

Many veterans risk their careers and legacies for half-baked ideas, making it impossible to secure funding for their next titles. It’s like Ryan Ellis. The world won’t remember him as the guy who directed Halo: Reach, but as the idiot who made Concord.

It sucked to be apart of the Alpha tests and then eventually the Beta tests only to get to launch and shortly after they announced it was shutting down in the following summer.
The game was fun and minus the annoying Hero Shooter elements it honestly felt like Classic CoD to an extent or at least felt a lot like CoD then cod does these days.
The game had issues I won’t lie but I honestly felt like given the proper time it was something that could be ironed out. That’s what sucks the most about GAAS where if they’re not smash hits right out the gate and do Fortnite numbers immediately then it’s automatically seen as a failure and instead of sticking it out and trying to correct the issues they immediately abandon ship.
I honestly felt like if the game had a couple years under its belt of constant tweaking it could have gotten to a good state.
Plus I don’t know if it was possible or not but I felt like if they added a “Bare Bones” type mode where it disabled the annoying Hero Shooter bs and was just strictly Gun play with a set score streak / kill streak (3, 5, 7) it could have come real close to that classic Call of Duty feel especially since the head was someone from OG Infinity Ward.
However the head just happened to be the guy from Infinity Ward that was always trying to do something different and stray away from what works (they’re the one behind CoD Ghosts) so it’s not surprising that his next game essentially was a game that was just a trend chaser. Imo there’s something missing from FPS games today and that’s what CoD used to be and none of the bs it is today. It’s what CoD would never be now and I thought it would be easy to tap into that given it’s what people were asking for and given no one else is making anything that scratches that itch nowadays, i thought it be a slam dunk. You could tell as OG CoD fans would go crazy whenever they announced the game having something that COD doesn’t have anymore and something they wanted to return but cod wont listen. Just look at the response to when they announced they weren’t having no SBMM in the game.
Plus sometimes simpler is better especially in a time where every shooter is trying to be everything on the market to an extent to where there’s no identity to it anymore. I mean think of the game “Gotham City Imposters” it was a simple game and didn’t do nothing too crazy and it was loved, I feel like that game would KILL today the same way I feel like if someone were to make a game that is 100% dedicated to that classic CoD feeling (Black Ops – BO2 / MW3)
It’s also why I feel like it Treyarch were to Remaster Black Ops 2 today it would be HUGE cus sometimes people just wanna shut their brains off and play with some friends and just kick back like the old days without all the extra bs that’s in MP games now like constant lobbies that are constantly competitive and feel like ranked as it’s tuned like crazy where at times for the average player 1 to 2 games where they “Go off” or simply just go positive means they’re going to have their teeth kicked in for the next 5 or so matches. Or MP having so much extra stuff added onto them that you can’t just turn your brain off and have fun with buddies like we could in the golden era of cod.

What killed it was “pay to use” characters. I ain’t grinding for shit that’s put behind a pay wall, which will be made free in 3 months time, but until then good luck because those characters are OP.
