Just had this pop up as an Ad, anyone heard anything about this before?

They would also be working on a lower end 9050. Who knows, lets all speculate without any single proof.

    why not a 64 , 96 , 128 GB CArds

If true, i’d buy it but until proven I doubt it’s real

  4. git-push-pull

Well I just bought my 9700xt. So seems about right for timing. lol

  5. Synthetic451

I think AMD’s Frank Azor already denied these on Twitter.

I was excited for the news too as I am still trying to move out of the Nvidia camp and waiting for a high-end AMD card, but I don’t think this is true.

  6. Bacon-muffin

With the state of the market not terribly interested in a 4 digit price tag card.

  7. Homewra

Getting close to a small microwave. Soon 10.090XT 650W!

  8. Don’t they use a similar chip method to Nvidia? Where the most powerful chip is designed first and the lesser variants are (essentially) just repurposed failed chips? So the announcement of a new top end card *after* their lower end cards doesn’t make much sense, yes? It would basically be a whole new gen.

  9. definitely_unused

It’s based on a MLID leak/rumor that didn’t say anything about AMD preparing anything. It’s just something in their labs and could mean nothing.

    450W power?!

I feel like that is on the wild side

  11. TheLordOfTheTism

Wait for UDNA. This is the final generation before another major architecture shift, don’t spend big bucks on something that’s about to be abandoned.

  12. Schnydesdale

If they built a 7900xtx equivalent in newer gen, I would probably buy it immediately if the price was right.

  13. Applespeed_75

I mean that would be great, but I doubt it. I would like a high end AMD card with more vram though

  14. Wander715

100% false. A 9080 XT would require a completely new die larger than the 9070 XT die and they take years to design and tape out and you would’ve heard about it in the rumor pipeline like a year ago. It’s just wishful thinking from AMD fans who can’t accept that 9070 XT is the best card they’re getting this gen.

Also 4GHz clocks with 450W power limit is wishful thinking and not at all realistic. As dies get larger clock speeds need to drop to maintain stability, so even with a higher power limit a 9080 XT would probably clock lower than a 9070 XT.

Let’s put it this way…. you have more of a chance of Lisa Su herself visiting you and handing you a free GPU than this being real.

  16. nimbleWhimble

Funny, when it does come out, ya’all be bitchin’ it still isn’t what you wanted.

    Some folks just never satisfied…

  17. ExpectDragons

yeah this is bollocks, but in hypothetical land were this card to exist and match or exceed a 5080 I would buy it

  18. Basic-Description306

If this is true I know what I’m saving for next year.

  19. There is nothing from the regular sources about any GPU larger than Navi 48, which has 32 WGPs.

*If* this exists, it would be merely a high clock rate 9070XT, very inefficient and very costly to manufacture for quite marginal improvement.

  20. jezevec93

Source is is not reliable (actually was proven to be unreliable). I would wait for another leaker to confirm it or just ignore this rumor even exists.

  21. monthsGO

That uses as much power as my PSU can supply

  22. Inevitable-Edge69

Those specs are as absurd as using MLID as a source for this.

  23. 2raysdiver

Last year, AMD said that the 9000 series was going to concentrate on the midrange and entry level GPUs, and that they weren’t going to chase the (at the time) 4080/4090 performance levels. but rather try to bring 4070 Ti/Super performance to a 4060 price range. But considering how well they currently stack up against the 5060 -> 5070 Ti, maybe they are experimenting with scaling up to a 9080. Considering what RTX 5080s and 5090s are going for, they could make a lot of money if NVidia doesn’t saturate that performance segment first.

  24. Relative_Desk_8718

Does it come with its own wall plug adapter?

  25. Chronos669

Would be nice to have some competition again but only time will tell

  26. initiali5ed

What’s the performance delta vs the 7900xtx?

  27. Kaenguruu-Dev

Apart from depending entirely on how expensive it’d be, that just sounds a little too good to be true

  28. Androkless

Didn’t amd say they wouldn’t complete with nVidea in the highend market?

  29. Martimus28

I’m pretty sure it is total BS.  They would have had to design and tape it out years ago. Best they can do is have a high end card for the next generation.

  30. FlarblesGarbles

I hope so. I’m personally done with nVidia, and I want an upgrade for to my 3090.

  31. Aggressive-Expert-69

I think im sad that I jumped on the 70
