This game had it all

This was from a time when EA was actually good

I think they should go for it. The game was a blast. Bring it EA or whomever can re-create this gem

And the thing is… it was not huge by any metrics.

It came. It was there. It went. Completely unremarkable critically or commercially.

On all platforms. It was exceptionally made, if I recall. Just not the greatest thing to slog through to get to the good parts, too little good stuff in the inbetween on a smaller scale to keep very interested?

Like, I kind of remember it almost being a great game. But was too weak in each of the gameplay elements it cannibalized and amalgamated into it’s own, from other games.

But attention to detail and continuity with the films? I wanna say it was exceptionally done.

I can’t trust my memory. It’s been nearly a lifetime since.

The one thing they did have, was all the licensing and actor/movie materials, etc involved.
I would wager the licensing would be almost impossible to pull off, unless there’s some crazy big-time ownership of rights. Godfather has historically been a really hard to license IP. (which was WHY the game really should’ve been a bit more of a deal than it was, imo, but I’m also impartial to it. )

It would probably be a licensing nightmare to attempt that.

We can be sure that a lot of licenses would have to be renewed in order to be allowed to re-release that game, which means additional costs.

As the game didn’t sell particularly well back in the day and there isn’t exactly a cult following or great demand to see it resurface there is most likely no solid business plan to ever make this happen.

    tl;dr: don’t hold your breath 😉

  4. Had the right amount of open world stuff to do, and the territory control aspect was fun and I think(?) new at the time

  5. There was something so oddly satisfying about strangling somebody on the Wii version.

I really enjoyed it and did a great job filling in pieces around the movie and book. Would love a remaster.

But there WAS a remaster, for ps3!!!! I’m NOT crazy, it was called The Dons edition, and can only be bought on physical disc, it usually costs well over $100

Loved the Wii version, use the nunchucks to strangle people or push them off buildings

bought this shit on a whim back in the day and was shocked at how much i loved it. Super underappreciated imo

It just felt good to play, and the vibes were immaculate.
