[Dexerto] Smite and Paladins dev Hi-Rez just laid off executives and senior staff to keep Smite 2 alive. Hi-Rez chose their devs over execs, with no core Smite 2 devs being affected by these layoffs

This should obviously be just be standard practice for all the suits running gaming companies into the ground, but holy shit, never thought I’d live to see the day it actually happened.

That’s how it should been everywhere, always get rid of the people who are at the top and not at the bottom <3

Oh no, won’t someone think of the poor execs…. lol.

…Alright, Hi-Rez, alright. Let’s see how it works out for them.

  5. I have many criticisms of hi-rez but this deserves respect, props to them

Execs run games into the ground and ask “Why did gamers do this?”

  7. The execs didnt achieve what their job demanded of them and they were fired instead of the poor workers following their orders????

Man this is even rarer than seeing a comet

  8. They already laid off most of the Smite 2 devs in previous layoffs this year

Does anyone have a case they could make for prioritizing upper management over the people actually making the thing?

I don’t think that upper management is completely useless, but when push comes to shove and you have to make tough decisions, wouldn’t it make sense to off load upper management? The only reason it happens in the reverse is because upper management are the ones making the decision and of course they aren’t going to lay themselves off and shareholders or a board of directors wouldn’t either unless it’s something particularly egregious .

It’s a shame that Smite 2 is a shitshow and Paladins was massive wasted potential, maybe they should have laid of some off those devs too.

  11. There have been calls for this within the community since the last 2 rounds of layouts. That fact that it’s actually happening though is surprising

  12. After 2 rounds laying off devs they had no choice but to finally get rid of the leeches at the top.

  13. that’s excellent news, watch the game turn out better

I will never forgive or support HiRez after what they did to Tribes.

  15. If this sets a precedent for other studios to follow can it be called the Smite effect please. Just so we can say that the useless executives have been Smited.

This is how it should be in every field of work. Axe the whales to save the krill in terms of earning.

Too bad Paladins became a zombie before this happened, Im still a bit sad its not getting new updates

Hell yeah. Don’t think I’ve ever seen that happen but that’s how it should be. It’s usually the execs that fucked up, not the devs

  19. Doesn’t really matter what Hi-Rez does to be honest, they’re a terrible company because at the very core of the studio, Erez still has his grubby little mitts associated with it. The fiasco of what happened with Tribes 3 and Prophecy Games was a clear sign that the rot runs deep.

  20. Is this the first time a gaming company chose their devs over execs ? This is so refreshing to see.

Man, Dexerto.com is really kissing that ass. Did hi-rez write this and send it to them to publish?
