AND saved his life. There was a life debt, but V payed it off. He actually didn’t owe takemura anything

V might not have broken the actual deal but depending on how you played out your relationship with him, he’d be justified in feeling personally betrayed. Look at it from his perspective, this merc spent all this time being friendlier than the situation warranted then suddenly and without warning kicked the foundations out of what was left of his world. Whiplash guaranteed
This is actually why I reject the head canon of Takemura killing himself in the Sun and the Moon endings, the idea of him being out still there on a vengeance run against V is far more interesting (and maybe getting over it eventually, judging by the Tower ending)
There is a parallel between him and V in that both seem to hope against hope the other renounces everything they know and value in order to join them on the other side. But the chasm between a lifetime in servitude to the corpo Emperor and whatever your V is is just too wide to overcome.

Of course Takemura would disagree. But not only did V save his life, but Takemura was also simply on the wrong side. In Night City, someone is always gonna get fucked one way or the other, and if that happens you need to decide which is the lesser evil.

This is why I don’t bother saving him after the parade or sparing Oda. Dogs on a leash and the ones pulling that leash are literally evil overlords

I imagine Goro watching a feed of V slaughtering hundreds of Arasaka staff and doing billions of Eddies of damage to Mikoshi and thinking “This is NOT going to look good on my quarterly review.”

Takemura screwed himself over by being unable to let go of the oppressive corporation he was beholden to. Not that you could blame him. But we destroy it regardless.

Yeah for real. Like bro I helped you reach Hanako, even brought you Hellman, AND saved your life. And you’re mad that I didn’t help you save the evil corporation from a guy who wants to tear it all down?

In Tom’s Diner he discusses what he needs you for, testifying to the board/his allies under lie detector in a neutral location. Convincing Hanako is a part of getting safe access to the board and demonstrating to her that there is a willing witness alive.

Hanako messed up by telling us about where Mikoshi is. She would still have us on her leash if we didn’t have any alternative.

Brother I helped the NUSA specially to fuck over Arasaka.
