Hi everyone,

I wanted to share my story about rediscovering gaming after a big change in my life. Before I had a stroke at 13, gaming was one of my favorite things to do. It was a great way to connect with friends and enjoy some competition. But after losing mobility in my left arm, I thought my gaming days were over.

Still, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I wanted to play again. So, I started exploring ways to make it work, even though most controllers are built for two hands. It wasn’t easy, and there was plenty of trial and error, but eventually, I found a solution that changed everything—a gaming mouse with interchangeable attachments.

The mouse came with 2-button, 7-button, and 12-button options. I started small, with the 2-button setup, but I quickly realized it wasn’t enough for most games. Moving up to the 7-button version made a huge difference and gave me so much more freedom to play. It took time and patience to get comfortable, and I’d recommend not jumping straight into the 12-button setup. it’s a learning curve!

Now, I’m back to enjoying games like CSGO, ESO, COD, and Rivals. I customize the buttons for each game, but the main controls stay consistent, which helps me keep things simple.

Getting back into gaming has been such a rewarding experience, and I hope this story encourages others to find creative solutions to keep doing what they love. If you’re navigating similar challenges or have questions about accessible gaming gear, feel free to reach out.

Where this is a will there a way god damit/willing!

    Welcome back gamer!

  3. I dont know if you can use them, but have you considered pedals?

  4. VestedGames

I have a family member who was born with a similar issue and also games one-handed. Glad you found a way to keep playing!

Binding keys and actions to my G502 is what made the entry to MnK gaming much more accessible and manageable for me. If I had to stick my finger out any further than the V key or towards the numbers row when I made the switch from console to PC, I would’ve had a lot more trouble getting into it

Usually I go back to using two hands after a stroke

OP there might be a chance your other arm eventually feels better especially being so young. Long story short I had a stroke older than you and the residual damage eventually faded with practice on those areas. Obviously I’m not 100% like before but if I didn’t tell people I had a stroke, these days they can’t tell. Wishing you well and hang in there it gets better.

Same story bro, I feel you. Lost fine movement of the left hand/arm with 18 due to an brain surgery.
I came back to gaming with the Logitech G600 and I modified my PS4 and PS5 Controller to make L1/L2 useable with my right hand. Gladly I can move my left thumb good enough to move with the left stick.
    Stay strong💪

I had mini strokes from an accident and after I couldn’t use one side of body. Took awhile but I was able to hold a controller. I can almost type now. Wish you best recovery, I know everyone not the same.

I thought he was playing one handed for other reasons

Ever though about getting a razer tartarus or something like that?

A little pricey but look up Azeron. I’ve been wanting one for each hand for years now but really do not need it

  14. I am dreading the day my Roccat Nyth dies for good. I managed to buy two more used ones. I will have a hard time adjusting to any other 20 Button mouse…

  15. LeverTech

Love that mouse. I map wasd to 123456. Works pretty well.

  16. PooForThePooGod

Here’s to many more years of your gaming, friend!

  17. Itchy_Nose_9243

This is fucking gangster 🤘🤘 hell yeah brother.

  18. lovsicfrs

I’ve exclusively used this mouse for almost 10 years now

  19. DomSchraa

That hand eye coordination in your ***right*** must be crazy
Doing all that shit while aiming too, goddamn

Unless you use a lot of flying heroes, may I suggest swapping ascend and jump? Scroll up for jump, hold it for ascend. Lots of games benefit from scroll wheel up as your jump as well, if you decide to use this layout as a “default” layout for games!

That’s awesome. I only ever used a Razer Naga when playing Star Wars Galaxies.

Wishing you all the best in your continued recovery.

Buying this mouse was one of the best purchases I made for my pc when I first got it, have been using it for close to 5 years now and it’s still so nice to have a dozen key binds for your thumb especially on a lot of building and sim games!

  23. SolarCurve

I just want to say how impressed I am. So happy to have you still in the game. 🙂

  24. Powersoutdotcom

To me, doing it like this seems like a superpower. Very cool. I have a hard time moving my voice chat button to the mouse, lol. Takes me way too long to get used to it.

I wish you success, and hope you continue to have fun!

  25. Bacon-muffin

I think you’re the first person I’ve come across who uses the same strafe binds as me, except I did this setup for wow. People always find my binds so weird, but for me it was to free up my left hand to focus purely on ability usage.

There was a time where one of my guildies broke his left arm and ended up having to do similar to continue raiding mid prog.

  26. I prefer the G600 because you can flick the wheel to left and right for additional options, and the 3rd large mouse button is just perfect for things like dodge.

  27. Kitchen_Part_882

    Razer Naga Trinity I presume?

I have one and I haven’t used either of the other two side plates it came with.

  28. daMustermann

Same play style, brother! Except it wasn’t a stroke for me. Pretty similar mapping as I use, but I traded abilities for more movement (in FPS games). I crouch with 7, reload with 6 and jump with 8.

I play with MMO mouses since the first Naga came out and now im at my 17th MMO style mouse, the Naga Pro v2.
Have/had them all, EVERY Naga, G600, Corsair Scimitar, Steelseries, noname Utechsmart things from Amazon…
You will wear them out pretty good, but it’s worth it!
It’s a learning curve, and you get better every day, I played competitive Counter-Strike one-handed, so we can do everything! Good luck and much success! If I can help you with something, ask away.

  29. Griddamus

Not one handed, but after going through 4 logitech g600 mice (im a heavy user) and loving them until they came too rare to warrant the expense to replace them, it pleases me greatly that this style of mouse has some great applications i’d never thought of like someone in your situation.

I’m using the Naga Pro like in your image now (and like it a lot) but really miss the G-Shift modifier on the old discontinues logitech competitor to this. It effectively doubles the amount of buttons you can have.

It’s rare to regain motion if you don’t get it back very shortly after a stroke, but I hope you’re one of the rare cases where it does.

  30. Broke my left arm back in 2022 when Lost Ark launched and thanks to this mouse I was able to play the game during my recovery. It’s a great mouse.
