I mean Razer are like Iphone of the PC peripheral world, its the known “branded” choice with glaring issues.
Headphones? People opt for studio cans maker like sennheiser, audio technica even for gaming. Mouse? Logitech. Keyboard? Tons of other good brands.

So I bought my first razer device in 2011. It was a Naga, I knew nothing about the company but liked the idea of the numpad at my thumb. I used that first gen naga until 2020 when it finally died. Along those years I had bought a pair of Krakens that lasted me about 6 years until I ran my chair over them. I’ve had nothing but success with my razer products but I do get they are over priced. Right now I have Kraken chromas, naga chroma, and a black widow v4 pro, and the nommo v2’s.

Looks about right. I stopped buying their garbage eons ago. The last great thing they made was the original Diamondback mouse.

That’s all companies nowadays.
I buy studio headphones only for music production and companies like Audio-Technica, beyerdynamic (“German” engineering lol), etc. all have same cheap plastic joints made-in-China connecting the drivers to the band, designed to break after 6 months or so, especially if you don’t have a tiny head. I now just tape these fucking areas with electric tape to make them slightly more resilient, not that I’m throwing these headphones around for fun in spare time trying to break them.
Headphone makers are thriving on planned obsolescence, just like companies making garbage, overpriced mice (Logitech, Razer again) have been for years.

So is razer like roll of the dice? I have head phones from them that are great been using them for years now and I even bought that like 700 dollar gaming chair no issues. So did I just get lucky twice?

Idk, my razer headphones have survived for like 4 years, the only thing that is giving way is the fabric on the headband but thats because of my 3d printed stand.
I’ve broken 2 pairs of Razer headphones and decided to stop buying them so this is accurate
Multrak
Hilarious because that is exactly what happened to my one and only attempt at purchasing a razer headset. The plastic crumbled like someone left it in the sun all summer after about a week of use.

Only been an hour since this post was made, I wonder when their RM will show up…
Razer wouldn’t be on my choice for audio/sound driver quality anyway.

I bought one of their Android controllers and it broke because I didn’t charge it enough I guess. Was really irritating.

I think that’s a conception(design) default, my HyperX Clouds also wants to desintegrate like this, but the build quality is a lot more higher so it’s holding fine with some super glue. Razer has both terrible conception and build quality, at least Apple has top quality manufacturing, conception isn’t as good tho.
Oh and “gaming” anything is budget in the wrong part of design, some just brute force with high quality build, but starting by a sane design has much higher chances to be good quality in the end.

I’ve had two Razor products, a mouse and a keyboard. Both of them did lots of extra cool things like macros, LED etc
But both of them failed at literally their primary role within the first year. The keyboard, certain keys would never register after a while but it would only be intermittent. The mouse would fail to register horizontal input and I’d only be able to look up or down, again intermittent.
I will never buy a razor product again and I have never had a primary function of any periphery fail that spectacularly
ocelot_its_a_log
I got a decently good run out of the old Kraken V2s before the update, though the mic/volume dongle in the middle of the cable died fairly quick. Those had metal headband bases somewhat reminiscent of the ones Beyers use, but everyone I knew who had Manowars had the headband cracked in the first week of use. Their mice are fine, though they have a really common issue where even small amounts of dust interfere with the scroll wheel. Its a generally mixed bag I would say.

My Razer headset broke after 2 years of use meanwhile my current HyperX headset is going strong after 5 tears

Honestly I really hate Razer. I was a sucker for them, but I’m not buying from them again.
I had some kraken X headphones, never dropped them, and one day they just snapped in half. And on top of that if you are into audio and things you realize their audio quality is not even close to being worth the money they charge.
I just rather buy other brands that might not have the prestige Razer has, but make reliable products that’ll last for years
NotEvenEvan
Accurate. My $160 Razer mouse had to be sent back twice for the same issue, I’m never buying their shit ever again.

Their customer service is horrible for sure. Had a “J” key that was not working properly, it tends to not spring back up when pressed. It was in just a few months of owning a keyboard. And who uses a “J” key on PC, especially when gaming? So I know it wasn’t because of me. Contacted Razor, took a photo and video as they requested. And they say it won’t be covered under warranty. When they work, they’re fantastic. But if they break in anyway? Good luck.

Razer is garbage. Bought a mouse from them like a decade ago…got double clicking issues after a few months. Didn’t touch them again for a decade. Gave them another chance now and their products are still just garbo along wither software so…nah never again.
Too bad they’re not the only ones when it comes to peripherals.
