Once more, the Topanga Championship is upon us as the successor to the prestigious Topanga League which ran all the way back in the Street Fighter 4 days.
Watch some of Japan’s absolute finest battle it out across long round robin sessions divided into stages. For this year’s Championship, the Advanced Stage is already populated with AMG|Kobayan, Zeta|Kakeru, Zeta|Momochi, Reject|Fuudo, RB|Gachikun, G8S|Kawano, FAV|Ryukichi, Zeta|Hikaru, FAV|Moke, SBI|Hibiki and Saishunkan|Cosa. For the Beginning Stages, one group is filled with Varrel|Mago, DFM|John Takeuchi, Zeta|Yamaguchi, Varrel|Mizuha, IBSG|Yanai FAV|Fujimura, Akutagawa, Riddle|Jr. and Owaechan while the other one has Reject|Tokido, Zeta|Higuchi, BST|Daigo, RB|Bonchan, CR|Shuto, CR|Tachikawa, FAV|Sako, IBSG|Torimeshi and Middle School Younger Twin.
The Beginning Stages has teams divided up into two blocks, the Red Division and the Blue Division which has 9 players each who will battle it out in online first-to-3 round robin sets within their own groups.
Top 3 placers in each group will graduate to the Advanced Stage alongside one of the 4th placers, who will battle it out against each other in a direct fight to decide who gets the final spot in the Advanced Stage.
In the Advanced Stage, players are once again divided into two groups — the White Division and Black Division — and will once more fight it out in online first-to-3 sets. The top 3 placers will advance to the Final Stage along with the winner of a direct confrontation between the two division’s 4th placers.
Once the Final Stage hits, it will all be played offline in a first-to-7 format to finally crown the Topanga Championship 6 champion.
