On PC you don’t have to pay to access the online

    *Shows epic* “and others!”

I get it but they gotta make up for hardware losses somehow otherwise consoles lose their best advantage which is low entry cost

  3. WirusCZ

People keep talking about consoles being low entry point but then are fine with paying sub and overpaying PC after few years… Then why not borrow money and pay it off over like 2-4 years using same price as you would pay sub?

  4. thatirishguyyyyy

I will admit that even I was suckered into buying a console during the *Console Wars.* Even though I owned a PC, I *needed* an Xbox.

    Thankfully we have cross-play now.

Putting an online subscription on a device for kids sounds like a recipe for suddenly having an insane bill next month on one’s credit card.

I hope parents who do this for their kids at the very least lock down purchasing, if not set it up through a prepaid gift card.

Oh, was this the tipping point?

If it weren’t for this you would just be whole hog into consoles?

“Look at this thing I don’t like about a thing I would never buy anyway.”

lol save 5 dollars a month for the small price of 400 different launchers, mouse and rgb ram bloatware, mods to make the game optimized, driver issues for a 800+ dollar gpu, etc. you can buy 50 years of whatever PS is offering for the price of an available top of the line GPU, and probably 75 years for the rest of the PC that you’ll want to upgrade again in 5 years.

It is stupid. Having to pay Nvidia GPU prices is stupid. Are they both equally stupid? I don’t know.

  9. Blizzard charges wow players every month, also add-ons and major content updates are not free. Many more games use the pay to win schemes or grindwalls. World of tanks makes your game impossible to advance to high tiers without real money. Tarkov sells its beta keys for £150 and any player might be banned if he touches any item used by a cheater in the arena.

Tbh I’m fine with paying for psn or whatever. I bought a console for like $300 that satisfies my wants. I know what I’m getting myself into and I’m fine with it.

I’d rather have a PC, but the kind of PC that I want would run me nearly $2,000 or significantly more if I get a GPU made in the last few years.

So for now I eat the cost.

It’s more than just a little extra profit.

The more subscribers in the books the higher the valuation of the company.

Why are pc users always so hyper focused on online-play

I use both console and pc and have typically always gotten my value in the + games alone.

It always just feels like such a weak overused “gotcha”

  13. When did console makers started charging monthly subs just to be able to play multiplayer? I haven’t had a console since the early PS3’s.

  14. TheDeskAgent_TTV

Okay? What’s your point here? Just another “Lol console bad” post?

There is a surprising amount of PC haters in the pc master race subreddit today

i know it’s not xbox, but i’m on PC (selling/sold my xbox) and i’m subscribed to PC Gamepass, why? because the value is there. I have games 2-4 games each year that will get released on gamepass and i will play them as a part of the subscription and save my money.

on top of that, there may be other releases or games i can try and not worry about not liking it or not.

and the cherry on top is i do the microsoft rewards thing every day almost and get the 7500 points (or something around that) that will get me PC gamepass free for the month. so, technically i’m getting free games.

on xbox you can do the rewards trick but may need to pay a few months as the points level is higher for gamepass ultimate.

It won’t be long until all the DRM’s become a monthly subscription and us PC gamers will be more fucked than console.

When Lord Gaben passes, that will be the beginning of the end.

I wonder often about this, every time it gets raised. Are you:

    * Literally only just now learning about this, and mentioning it because it’s brand new to you, despite clearly being a thing for 2 decades that 2 seconds of checking would have alerted you to?
    * Or did you always know, but you think that somehow everyone else on earth has forgotten this knowledge and you think you are doing us all a favour by pointing it out?

Because I can’t think of any other reason why so many people think this is something still worth pointing out.

    Constantly.

    Over and over.

    Everywhere.

  20. UNIVERSAL_VLAD

Game pass on pc makes the most sense. You get games and it’s a monthly payment. Nothing else

  21. k_clouty

Pc is a pc there’s no beating a pc tbh – no subscription, can pirate games, do other pc stuff(learn coding, using excel etc etc),better fps at better quality, can play with both keyboard mouse or controller, most exclusives are available on pc, can customise to any budgets, can mod games( use savefiles, mods). This is what i experienced switching from ps4 to pc.

Every single other PC launcher doesnt asks you to pay for multiplayer, because Steam doesnt. They know that if they try to charge you this – people will just forget about them and get back on Steam.
