That’s surprising, the entire game launch and patches went so well so far /s

I launched this on gamepass not long ago, thinking that it’s been a while and maybe they’ve fixed the game a bit.

Literally 10 minutes into it, I built the first road and the game crashed to desktop with no errors or anything.

    Immediately uninstalled.

I just reinstalled 2 days ago and it crashed regularly every hour or so.

14900k, 4090, 64gb ddr5. The cpu is brand new (rma in April for degradation on 13900kf, upgraded to 14900k) and the bios was updated last month. No crashlogs or errors, just shut off. So either the game is still a buggy mess or it completely fried a brand new cpu in ~20hrs of gameplay (I was addicted)

how far they fell. made the best city builder around, then fucked the sequel SO hard they retroactively ruined their reputation.

This expansion was originally meant to come out in Q2 2024 meaning if it does come out in Q4 2025 (who even knows at this point) it will have been delayed by 18 months. This is quite an achievement for just a DLC.

I think the core issue is that the developer has been facing serious issues with the Unity engine which has taken a huge amount of resources away from fixing bugs and developing DLC. Essentially they’ve been forced to write an entire new asset pipeline outside of Unity to fix issues and allow for asset mods.

I was a moron to buy this, thinking its going to be something more than the first game…

  7. Substantial__Unit

The first one was one of the best well developed and constantly updated game. I never bought the 2nd but it makes me terribly sad.

  8. Jope3nnn

Is this game still unfinished? Wtf were they doing all this time

  9. This is on Paradox. They’re fucking over all their devs of their games.

Borderline fraud at this point if you ask me.

I hope someone has been documenting the disaster that is Cities Skylines 2, they gained such positive appreciation for Cities Skylines 1 and they threw a ton of that away with the very rushed, buggy and unstable launch of Skylines 2

This shitshow makes me appreciate simcity 2013 more and more

  13. Brazuka_txt

They really didn’t need to make a 2nd game

I was a SUCKER and bought the last iteration of Sim City on pre order. Even built my first PC for the game as I loved the franchise as a kid and couldn’t believe they were starting back up. It was a complete let down. Then paradox came along and scratched the itch and completely revitalized that feeling I used to get when playing SC4. The workshop assets took it into a whole new level. When CS2 was announced I was over the moon. Since launch, I’ve maybe hit 30 hours. This game is such a disappointment. I really thought Paradox was “different” and we finally had a company that cared. I can honestly say that I’ll never buy another game made by these folks again.

Did they ever fix this game? Or does it still run like shit?

Not making any apologies for Paradox, and I find it very believable that a publisher fucked things up.

With that being said, I’m really surprised to see the hate for this game. I didn’t follow CS2 drama and just downloaded it on gamepass on a whim.

I played a decent amount of CS1 and I found it to be a bit buggy, lots of weird visual artifacts, not a perfect game by any stretch – but it was FUN.

My experience after about 100hrs of CS2 is pretty good? A lot of the janky performance issues from the first game are gone. It seems like they improved a lot of aspects of the game.

I have a 7950x, 4080s so my machine is quite capable. Maybe lesser hardware might struggle with it.

Is it the lack of content/updates that people are mad about? That’s understandable. But I have to say I’m pretty surprised to see people writing it off entirely. I’ve really been enjoying it.

Again, not doubting anyone’s experience. Not shilling for Paradox. Not a fan boy. Just sharing my personal experience with the game.

This shit will eat CPUs for breakfast

I loved Cities 1. Bought and refunded 2. It just has terrible performance. The level of unnecessary detail is insane.

Time to remaster Sim City 4, add 64bit, and keep the isometric view. Upgrade the engine like AoEII DE and graphics for 4k.

  19. Well I like it. All my issues have been fixed personnally.

  20. ThatGamerMoshpit

I was so hyped for the game to release, I’ve barely played it because of all the issues

  21. TheTorrentPirate

What’s actually happening with this game?

I was hyped for it up until the bugs and issues, has this been resolved?

  22. Karimadhe

Loved CS 1. Guess I’m going to keep holding off huh.

  23. A_PCMR_member

    “more depth”

More monetization and cutting it apart you mean

  24. bu22dee

My theory is that this game was specifically catered to content creators. This is why the simulation aspect is so flat and some parts of the graphics are weirdly specific.
They looked on YouTube and saw the „realistic looking cities“ and they wanted to lean into that while most players want a simulation and not spend 8 hours designing a park in a district.
You can only lose with this approach.

  25. TheLastElite01

I’m not even entertaining this game until the mixed reviews change.

  26. UnseenData

At this point, just spin it off into the third game lol

  27. Doppelkammertoaster

Maybe they should add more performance and polish first and them remove bugs.

    Ah, and mod support.
