The bulit in .rar extractor is horrible af

  2. Rockergage

Winrar also just works better, the Win10 version won’t even do multiple zipped folders at once.

  3. thejurdler

Still need something for less common archive types.

  4. Apopololo

I bought WinRAR about 10 or 15 years ago; I will use it until I die.

  5. paradox501

Still using Winrar trial 20 years later

I keep the installer on a usb hanging around my neck… No other files, just that.

    Peazip for years. Excellent.

  9. shlamingo

Maybe it’s just me, but the windows extractor sucks ass.

  10. rxmp4ge

    Still using winrar.

Also still using VLC and Winamp.

If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

  11. PizzaToastieGuy

Of course, we have all paid for winrar

  12. Plasmacannon2248

Yes! I even bought it when 7zip couldn’t extract a program for some reason.

Then I used WinRAR and it worked after extraction xD

I had a nameless file with size zero that i could not delete in Windows 11. I tried everything i could think of, and online guides, nothing worked. Until so, random comment in youtube wrote that we should try to navigate to the file using winrar and use it to delete the file. And it worked.

  14. FatPenguin42

Never used winrar because well I had windows extract lol

The windows Rar Extractor is shit. If the Archive is password locked, it cant recognize it and the extraction autofails without ever giving you a prompt.

  16. Me looking at Usenet releases with my paid version in WinRar after 30 years of not paying for it. I felt guilty. Now I’m eyeballing my par 2 files.

  17. bangbangracer

I paid for WinRAR and I’m gonna use it until I die.

  18. Where’s the third “buy Winrar” option?

  19. Mr_MC111

Windows extractor is shit! If I unpack games using it they dont work, but its perfectly fine with winrar

  20. Financial_Warning534

Haven’t installed winrar since they added that feature. No need. 🤷

  21. MrInitialY

7zip. I hate how big the WinRAR is, believe me or not.

  22. creamcolouredDog

It took until Windows 10 to support .tar and 11 to support .rar… the best part is that they used libarchive, an open-source library and tools for archive files handling – not because they love open source, but because it uses a BSD license, which means they can incorporate to their proprietary software without having to contribute back to the original code.

  23. TrandaBear

Im still spanking the llamas ass with WinAmp

  24. SurturOfMuspelheim

Anyone using winrar in 2025 clearly just doesn’t care, 7zip is far better

  25. Seeteuf3l

I don’t remember when I saw a .rar file in the wild last time.

And Windows built in or 7zip would take care of it

  26. dryuyuri

Is there a difference? I used winrar for decades until I got a new pc recently. Never installed it and have been able to unzip any and all files with no issue.

  27. simonhez

I am a fan of Peazip. Dont remember how I discovered it but I love it

  28. Myster1ousStranger

Check out nanazip, feels much more modern

  29. Objective_Lobster734

I haven’t used WinRAR or 7zip in a very long time

  30. Some potentially rhetorical questions:

    * Does Windows 11 support RAR’s Recovery Record feature?
    * Does Windows 11 support creating RAR archives?

  31. Hetnikik

I mean I’ve not paid for it for this long I might as well keep not paying for it.
