My power button is on the top right of my case which is a bit awkward when it's on the desk, so I built a little extension to turn it on πŸ™‚

Holy shit that’s genius. You able to share a bit more detail on how you did this? I’m not so genius πŸ™

Sick. Instead of one button, there is now 2 switches and one button. Are you German by any chance?

Convenience taking a backseat to “fucking awesomeness” in this scenario.

Why does it feel like starting a plane engine.πŸ˜‚

  5. I thought about doing something similar, but I almost always sleep/hibernate instead of a full shutdown so instead just enabled the setting in the BIOS to allow USB devices to wake it up.

Not sure it gets more convenient than just wiggling my mouse or pressing a key on the keyboard.

    Bro enabled 2 step verification

Looks cool, like starting engines.. i dig it

  8. Savvy_One

I mean.. i just slam my hand on the keyboard and it wakes up from sleep mode…

I’m sorry…don’t you mean a bit more inconvenient? Jokes aside, pretty cool. Bet my cat couldn’t figure out how to turn that bitch off

Ive actually thought of doing this since my computer tower is behind my monitors. I just need to order a momentary switch. Nice work

Lmao I love this unnecessary but cool af.

Although you could’ve achieved the same by using your phone and something like wake to lan and wouldn’t even have to touch a button but to each their own. I can see where utilizing this for a in desk case custom build would be beneficial although I’d use different toggles personally.. glad you’ve given me this idea, I just got a used 4090 strix for 1,600 and have a bad idea I’m about to attempt to try, I want to use glass for the top of the desk so you’ll be able to see the pc in the desk but thinking I’m gonna have to go plexi because idk the first thing about cutting and edging glass. Cool idea u/op

This is also my idea of convenient, thanks OP. I love it.

“You’re pissing me off Cherry Boy Hunter!”

    *Turns on PC*

Just needs a plexiglass cover to flip up beforehand like you’re arming a missile.

This is sick. If only I didn’t leave my PC on 24/7

  17. hi_im_snowman

OP, mind sharing the parts you bought to do this? This is really cool and I’d love to do this at home as well! πŸ™‚

That is absolutely amazing, instant response, I love it, I’ll take 10 thx

  19. Vengeance5051

Lmfao more convenient than the power switch 1 foot up?

  20. Gordon_Betto

Do you have the schematics and parts? Would love to recreate this πŸ™‚

How is this wired, just to the power source or the actual power button on the PC?

  22. blownart

I turn my PC on with my phone with WoL.

  23. Chris56855865

Fuel pump, ignition, and starter switch

  24. Euphoric-Mistake-875

I use push button switches for anything that is plugged in under the desk. I’ve said several times is like to put one of the fighter jet switches with a flip cover but I am yet to do it.

  25. SiliconEconomist

It lacks the sound of plane engines starting, then it would be a complete masterpiece

  26. Ill-Mastodon-8692

love those type of switches, satisfying

  27. Zachmanz8

Wow I’d love to do this – link for part by chance?
