at least they have functional drivers
    edit: talking about amd

They fucked up super bad, I guess I’m cheering for Intel for the foreseeable future. Honestly should have just kept making the 6700XT.

I have a AMD card I loved it until I found out I lost all future software support after just 1 year of paying $1,000 on a GPU… I didn’t know at the time their AI chips they advertised on 7000 series actually sucks so bad they can’t run anything…

My next GPU will be Nvidia 5080 super so I can at least have software support longer than 1 year. Also AMD drivers have been hit or miss for the past year. Good in some games crashes and black screens in others. They’re decent but some games are still unplayable. You also have no way to record HDR on a AMD GPU it was never supported even after all these years of people asking.

  4. How about we all stop pretending like these mega corporations are our buddies. They make something that you’re willing to give them money for. That’s it.

*Pooping on Nvidia* The last 3 Nvidia driver updates have basically been 97% RTX 50 series issues getting “fixed” and 3% game drivers.

A driver update 4+ months ago stopped my monitor from ever waking from sleep, which got fixed a month or so ago…

*Pooping on AMD* My buddy just built a rig and bought a used 6750XT which keeps becoming an “Unidentified Device” which he has to disable & re-enable after every sleep to function…

Adrenalin insists there’s no issue but windows concurs, maybe the AMD fine wine is a *little too strong*

Addiction to a brand is old as time itself. We’re all guilty of it. Too bad there’s no real benefit to it besides personal gratification.

What about we all remember that games have graphic settings and that lowering them almost has no effects on visuals thanks to the advancement of textures. Like, 8gb isnt bad, you just reduce the graphic settings from max to high/medium and boom, more fps (at 1440p), and the same when applying DLSS (or FSR on AMD case).

Yes, 8gb will be not enough if you plan on playing all on MAX SETTINGS (or Ultra), but thats why you can change graphic settings in games.

This is why I was rolling my eyes at the AMD circlejerk post-50 series launch. These companies are all competing to rip you off. It’s just a matter of which one is the least awful in the moment. Brand loyalty is such a scam mentality lmao.

You know what being a fan means, yes?

The same way your mother or partner supports you (or is supposed to) when you fuck up.

You don’t tell people when to stop supporting someone. The same way some friends or family will support someone even if they become criminals, it’s a stupid example but it works.

And honestly fanboys are not really.. that supporting. They just support a side because it worked well for them.

Threat interactive sums up AMD pretty well.

”They have no vision for gaming, they blindly copy NVidia and offer a slight discount to create perceived value for frugal and rebellious gamers”

shocking that the two ceos who are relatives behave similarly

this thread is literally orgasmic. thank you.

Tbf the only reason as someone with a crappy 2019 prebuilt so not even a early 2020s gpu, that i would go with rx9070xt or similar price of £650 over a rtx5070ti or similar, is a £300 – £350 price increase with both at retail and retail only. I can afford a £2k pc (but can’t justify building or buying) due to the age of the games I play excluding cyberpunk and hell divers 2. Games like NFS MW 2012 or terraria or minecraft etc etc. I can *just* about afford £2k for a pc the question that is repeatedly killing the idea of getting another pc for that much is whether I can actually justify the cost when maybe 3 of the games I plan to play would benefit from the performance jump.

AMD over nvidia for budget price despite still being expensive

Nvidia over amd for personal preference maybe raytracing is slightly better on a rtx5070ti over rx9070xt but I don’t have a clue its just a guess.

Could buy one. Could build one. Question is is it really worth it if I’ve got a series x and ps5 and pretty much every other variation of modern day gaming tech device including 2 VRs. Just can’t really justify a new pc despite wanting one.

Nvidia makes product. Nvidia is hype. Product only slightly better for more money. AMD is called in to save us. AMD drops the ball. Everyone says they won’t fall for it again.

    Nvidia makes product.

  15. CasuallyDresseDuck

or, we don’t buy their shit right away so they see how pissed we are.

  16. milyuno2

    So Intel or moare treaths?

  17. dan_buh

Tbh this is why I buy Nvidia still. AMD has shown over and over that they’re just as shitty as Nvidia while also having worse products. Want my business? Earn it, not just by being worse and cheaper.

  18. funthebunison

Bro the gpu for gaming market is dead. The gpu for AI market is so big that it doesn’t make sense to cater to a bunch of weird nerds like us. Someone will take over the market again but these big boys want more money.

  19. Oktokolo

China is our last hope. All we can do is hope that they also happen to make a decent gaming GPU on their way to AI supremacy.

  20. Shaggy_One

Unfortunately AMD has the same problem as NV. Shareholders that demand ever increasing profits.

  21. goaldiggermishan

The question is who fucked up more

  22. Rmcke813

Eh idk. I dislike corporations in general on principle but there’s layers. I like amd enough to keep buying their shit for now. Nvidia? Idk man I have at least a bit of pride. Rubbing shoulders with Trump is where I draw the line.
