I was joking originally but am now actually wondering if this could be the case

Plot twist – it’s pixel art game

  2. I mean that’s 10 years from now. If the Playstation ~~8~~7 has 48Gb of shared memory (wouldn’t be at all surprising), expecting a PC with only 24Gb of VRAM to do much of anything with AAA games would be pretty unreasonable, tbh.

That said I expect the console gens to lengthen and we’ll still be on the 24-32Gb PS~~7~~6 then, so I doubt it’ll actually be any kind of a problem :).

Is the value supposed to go up or down?? 😂

Depends, possibly yes. If you wanted you could make a game like this today. It’s a matter of how many assets you load into ram and their resolution. When the future is 8k textures and open worlds with fluid LODs, detailed foliage, pathtracing, etc. absolutely yes.

… If we only double or triple in the next decade I’ll be very sad.

I’m.hoping AI pushes us a bit further.

With the way games are optimized now, 24Gb is going to be the minimum

2035 : Nvidia with new 9060 with now 12gb ram but with DLSRAM technology using AI to double the ram ! Only 1500$

Ok but even now I still have the same question

Do game Devs have access to special hardware? Because if games struggle on the top of the line gaming PC’s, how do they even make them? Do they ask NASA for a spare PC to make their game?

    Players: “It needs optimization !”

    Developers: *Laughs harder*

    >!Joking aside, I think the ideal would be maintaining the standard of the game nneding a recent release 8Gb card (Fast hardware limited by VRAM quantity) as a minimum specification but can take advantage of more powerful hardware with an optimization patch post release to further improve performance, regardless of hardware.!<

I’m getting tiered of people blaming devs for making games unoptimized. they didn’t choose for the game to run like shit, it was people who hold the shares of the company that is making the game.

In 2035 vram will be twice as powerful, 10,000x larger, and so expensive that only the 5 richest kings of Europe can own them

It’s all management and investor’s pressure. And it’s mostly triple A games.
There are litterally 2 more jokes that are the exact same as this on the front page.
How long will we keep beating the dead horse?
